I understand you have a few efans, but c'mon seriously your knowledge is lacking on the similarity between the original boom bap song "sucka mc's" and "grindin"... on the real I'm just tryin to help you bro... not tryin to be condenscending, but along with talent its good to know the ledge.

a compostion is the same notation regardless of the recording quality, be it a SSL or a computer microphone, the notes are played at the same timing and timbre either way. must a producer go through X studio and production team to be boom bap?

this was an internal sampling of the beat straight off my mpc - no tracking out, just an mp3 of what i was working on at the time

if i didn't take the time to master it according to your standards i'm of boom bap according to the first song that you personally consider to fit the genre i am dreadfully apologetic, but the style is in fact in that of the widely understood "boom bap" pretty much inarguably, i mean if i put this up as a poll like "is this beat one of the following"

"hyphy"
"snap"
"new age"
"boom bap"
"gfunk"
"(whatever other hip hop genre you can think of)"

i'd just about guarantee you that the vote would come out boom bap

right, right.... I'm not trippin on your 21 second snippet bro... I can only ask you to agree with me that "Sucka MC's" by RUN DMC is the first of the boom bap genre...

if you agree with that then let it be known.... this would help me in understanding where your coming from.

I know this was said a few pages back but Neptunes Boom Bap????? was that guy serious? i am beside myself right now.

Boom Bap is all about the way the drums swing

for example set your tempo on your mpc to say 91.0 then lay your hats and snare down as usual then throw your swing to lets say 1/16 and 69% then lay your main kick down and right before it lay in your ghost kick (much quieter if not filtered down to barely be heard)

then mess with the swing on your hats and snare but if you do it right you have a real basic boom bap beat. then you can throw on some low end theory from a sample of your choice etc.

DJs aka beatmakers would spice it up by adding samples and strange ambiences to prevent the monotony of just drums. But Boom Bap is just that...Bah BOOOOM...BAP and repeat.

snare pretty much on 2's and 4's
hi hat 1/8ths with a little swing.

artists that come to top of mind, lord finesse, large pro, damu fudgemunk, premier, pete rock. boom bap gives me that walking down the street with headphones gliding through the wind around 60 degrees outside weather type of feel or mc's circling around a dj or mpc bobbing on the same level.
