I got a beat.. What is next , how would i let someone hear?

Been tryin to figure this out for a year now..

Trying to make this simple to understand. I have a beat, lets say its finished. I use the mpc2000xl.. I want the beat to be a mp3 or a wav file lets say.

how do i do this????????

I basically have always pressed record on a sound program on my computer, then pressed play on the mpc, .. so the sounds streamed into the sound program on the computer to 'record' my shit. the results are horrible. the beats always sound so much better when theyre playin out the mpc .. but after i "record" them they sound like crap when i play back the "file" ..

my budget is unlimited and i need to start doin this shit correct. what do i need to cop? a recorder? a mixer?

how the **** does a 'pro' record a beat from a mpc2000xl?????????

I guess you have a really shitty soundcard.....
since you already have a computer, the easiest solution is to cop a soundcard (anyone is better than an onboard soundcard) and get a wave editor like wavelab to record

I had the same problem some time ago, even though I didin't use the onboard soundcard. When I recorded the whole track in one take on my Sound Blaster 5.1, it sounded awful. Then I learned a 'trick' , to record each track from the mpc to the separated track in the recording software - ableton live as my personal choice in that case. But in my opinion the program doesn't matter, it's the soundcard that can make your stuff sound better or worse.
Anyway, my suggestion for now is - try to record each track separately. Since your budget is unlimited, cop the 8 outs for your mpc2kxl and soundcard which supports 8 line ins, and it should help you saving some time when recording.

By the way, make sure that you are using the line in socket in the soundcard, maybe you connected the mpc to the mic in by mistake? Sometimes it happens and may result in shitty rec results.

Why not try an external live CD recorder? I'm guessing the whole point of you using your MPC, is that you want to keep away from the computer as much as you can? This may be a good way of doing things.

Mixing your stuff on a computer will likely yield better and more creative results in your final masters, but it's always good to get a great sounding mix on the MPC first, before it even goes anywhere else.

As far as sound card I think it's actually a pretty good one.. E-Mu 1820??But as onlyone-jc posted.. I want to stay away from the computer to tell you the truth..

Having a great sounding mix is what I focus on doing with the mpc.. But I'm pretty sure that "mixing" goes out the window once I stream it into the pc you know??

What Harlej said... I do not have the 8 outs. .. so yes, I need to get that.. But I'm having trouble understanding 8 outs.. Does this mean the beats cant be more than 4 tracks? (Doesnt each track require 2 outs? left/right.. meaning 8 outs gives you ability to record 4 tracks at once?) I really do not like the sounds of that.. For one my beats are max 16 tracks, usually less.. but def. more than 4 tracks.. is there just no way around this??
