Display problems on my 2000

I got this MPC recently for cheap, its a bit beat up, but seems to be functional. the only real problems are the display which is difficult to read b/c of missing pixels (see the pic below) and the "open window" button seems to be a bit stuck. I don't think the stuck button is a huge issue, but the display makes it difficult to know what I'm doing. Any suggestions or fixes known to this? Any help would be appreciated.

This was my display, as you can see very bad.
I don't know why they become like this (bad chips perhaps)?
I've changed it for a new one.
