mpc 500 using garageband

If anyone uses garageband,..how do i set my mpc500 to record into garage band,using a fast track pro interface. I have my mpc pluged into my inserts on my fast track pro but when press record in garageband nothing happen help!!

Check the connections - INS and OUTS, if they are connected the right way.
Also, don't forget to press the PLAY button in the mpc when you start recording, unless you have it synchronized via midi.

I am able to use the mpc500 as a controller in garage band when i put the midi channel on one in my mpc 500 settings,. but how do i play the samples that i have loaded in to the mpc500 on garageband using the mpc500?

Can you record audio into Garageband?

If not, you need a multi-track software recorder compatible with Garageband.

The samples are on your 500, if you want to record them into garageband you need to make some new tracks, record-enable them (and set the record input to the appropriate channel on the fast track pro) and then hit play on the mpc to play a sequence you've already recorded as midi data on the mpc.

Just remember, midi and audio are two different things. I think ppl would have a lot less questions on here if they learned the basics of both. The samples on your mp are not just going to magically play in garageband just because you have them on the mp...

I don't know if garageband offers any kind of midi sync, but if you want stuff to be in time with any synths in garagband then you may went to set the sync out from garageband and set the mpc to receive sync. If you do this make sure you set the same tempo in garageband that you have on the mpc.

Well actually they do, i was just at a friends house and he simply hooked my mpc500 up to his mixer which is connected to his pre amp,.. created a new real instrument track in grageband and every pad he pressed (wasn't ) midi garageband recognized it so i think i'll have to just have to get the same interface he has thanks for the help though.

Yes you can do this. You simply use 2 1/4 audio cables run from the mpcs outputs run those through the mixer then hook the mixers outputs up to your computers 1/8 inch input (you may need adapters to get your 2 1/4 inch cablles into one stereo 1/8 inch (male) cable) then when you have the real instrument track selected look at the settings on the right underneath the effects and make sure the Input Source is set to Stereo Built in Input. then right under make sure your monitor is set to Off otherwise it will silence your tracks while recording in case you were using a microphone so it doesnt overlap. You can actually do this without the mixer altogether just go from the mpcs output to your computers input. Then you can do your mixing inside of garage band. Now when you hit a pad or play a sequence it should be routed through to your computer and come out of the pcs main speakers. I believe someone said something about this earlier but jsut didnt give as detailed a description. hope this helps if you need any other details or this was confusing just tell me what to clarify.
