so i turn my 1k on today(jj os) and its wildin. mode/program takes me to mode/load, mode/record takes me to qlink, and all the mode functions are screwed up like that, with no way to get to record mode or program, tried loading projects which worked but all the samples were assigned to random pads and hitting one pad triggerd multiple samples. i reinstalled the os which initialized all the preset settings of the os but the functions are still screwed up. is my 1000 done for, is it the internal processor (rom) or whatever fried ? im not a tech head i just make music...any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Damn... that's really odd!
I'd guess there could be a short somewhere in your pad section.

Have you or anyone else done any repairs to the pads?
If not, did you buy the MPC used? Maybe the previous owner attempted a pad fix and did a botched job.

If that's not the case, it may be possible that the connector going from the mainboard to the pads came loose.

All these possibilities are a shot in the dark. So let me know whats up and I'll try to get you in the right direction.

PS- If you're covered under warranty, don't open up the unit. Let me know if you're covered.

Hit mode + pad 10, then f5. then see if any of the pads are assigned to non normal functions. the chances are you did this yourself whilst playing :P hope this helps.

Wow, this has to be the most satisfiying thread I've read...

A major trauma that has button basher at the end of his tether. Even the most expierenced posters are scratching their heads (no one even thinks to tell anyone to RTFM). A simple suggestion that seems all to simple. Then a result that has everyone smiling. Damn it even has poo jokes. Poo jokes are funny. All with in the space of a day.

Mmmn I'd watch that telly movie.
