the MPC can't see the HD no more, the HD won't spin up at all but when i attach it to my laptop there is nothing wrong with it and I think the internal 1k ribbon cable is ok too,
so its some kind of failed connector or other hardware problem, I need a grown up to look at it

when you say you attach it to the laptop, how are you doing this? through the USB of the mpc?

no, the laptop doesn't see it either when its in the MPC. I'm removing the drive completely from the MPC and mounting it directly on a USB drive connector on the laptop, so I know the drive itself is okay

ahh ok. is it definitely pushed all the way in to the HDM-10? also, check that any jumpers on the drive are off. the only other thing it could be is a loose cable inside. you should open it up, it's no big deal, you just need a Philips screwdriver.

yeah, its easy not to have it pushed in all they way but I've had it to pieces like 10 times, plugging evrything in and out, thinking it must be something just got loose, but its more than that... time for an MPC doctor

it's difficult to push the HDM-10 + hd into the MPC or the HD into the HDM-10?

well not difficult, but it would be easy to not have it fully in position, but that;s not the problem I'm sure

Yeah that's gotta be some loose contact in there keep trying with that...
If you really can't get anywhere with it -- I don't know who's authorized to do Akai service in Berlin, but there is a synth repair shop I visited there once by the name of "Xtended" who do work on a pretty broad range of gear. If they won't do it, they might at least be able to point you in the direction of someone who will. There's also a synth shop called Sound & Sync that might be able to give you some advice depending on who's working there at the moment...
