Good question im trying to figure this out myself...many people said go for the 2kxl, but for me its a money problem, but the 2kxl has it all. if your gonna get the mpc1k, i heard its harder to work with especially if you don't have a computer with a program that can do simple wav. editing stuff, if u have a computer that has the capability to simple wav. editing then the mpc1k is good, but for a beginer i guess the mpc2kxl is really the way to go, the easiest to learn also, many heads have told me this. do some more homework on it and ask all the questions you have, there are many helpful guys on here, just look up a concept you don't understand and read about it, go to barnes and nobles and get books on the topic , you don't wanna spend $1300 on something that isn't right for you.

kvee, WizeGuy & whoeva else that is wonderin if they should cop the XL or the 1k! :D

~If u dont have a pc or dont like usin a pc then the XL would be nice and it is easy to learn but if u like usin a pc then u can go either way the 1k or the XL both are easy to learn dont worry about that! Ya main concern needs to be which one would fit with what u already have. The 1k comes wit alot of things standard which is GREAT![ digital i/o's, effects, onboard sounds etc.......] the only upgrade for the 1k is the 128mb memory ram which is more then enough! Or u could cop the XL Studio Plus for $1399.99 if ya $$$ is right and it has alot of things standard as well so u dont have to buy the extraz[like the 8 outs, fx card, etc....] Its alot of options and to be real everybody on the site can tell u to get this or that but at the end of the day u will have to make yur own decision on what will work for u!

~kvee, WizeGuy if u can brake down yur setup and let us kno what u already have peeps on da forum will be able to help u out a lil more and give u reasons why u should cop the XL or the 1k and then when u go to yur local music store to demo both of the MPC's then u can decide for yurself! Holla at me tho Kvee, WizeGuy! :)

Good looking out, i just talked to my boy who has been using the 2kxl for a while and told me that's the way to go. Cause he can show me everything i gotta know. I don't got anything to work with right now but i got a big fat check and am probably goin all out(mpc, sound module, keyboard, pc,etc.). But i'm still open to suggestions on what would be the best setup to build around the 2kxl, and get it poppin.

If this is yur 1st mpc WizeGuy then either the 1k or the XL would be GREAT for u! But if u used MPC's before then u might want to try the 4k or the Roland MV-8000 both are beast!
