using a text editor to create/edit .PGM files for mpc1k ?

anybody do this ? seems pretty simple. we used to do this in school with postscript graphic files.

any you meeks (mpc-geeks) have insight/wisdom regarding the formatting / character set / parsing the text ?

few weeks ago, there was a guy who was trying to decode the format of hte PGM file. If you search the forum maybe you will find this topic. I wasn't paying attention to that topic, so I cannot give you more details.

You'll need to use a hex editor if you want to edit the pgm file! Much easier to use software. If you can program...you could write a script to make pgm formats pretty easy

Anyone using MPC2K editors successfully with the 1000? According to Akai, the .pgm files should be compatible
I just downloaded a commercial trial of one...hopefully it will work okay.

The MPC1000 will only recognize the pad assignments from a MPCK2 .pgm file. none of the parameter settings will be recognized. Go to the link below if you havn't seen the MPC1000 editor. It is free and mucho easy to use.

The file format is binary, forget trying to use a text editor. For example, velocity settings go from 0-127, and most text editors can't properly handle 0-31.

I'm the guy who posted about this before, but I didn't do anything else with the info. After 6 weeks with the MPC I found I don't need anything else to work on programs quickly, so I'm abandoning the idea of making any PC tools. I can use help with fixing and looping samples, but I now use Adobe Audition for that. There is a PC editor in Beta at http://www.mpc1000.com/ - I've tried and it looks OK...
