Anyone here using OS 5.09 and using song mode?

I never really use this much, but decided to use it today. I can't get the convert song to sequence to work. I remember briefly reading about it somewhere here but can't locate it.

Holla..

WOW, I NEVER thought you'd be asking this one.

Each track on each seq needs to match up exactly.

seq1 = trk1-kik/ trk2-snr/ trk3-hhat
seq2 = trk1-kik/ trk2-snr/ trk3-hhat
seq3 = trk1-kik/ trk2-snr/ trk3-hhat

etc.

When you convert the song to seq, the mpc will ONLY keep the programming of the FIRST seq. You need to line up ALL your seq trak BEFORE you convert. If they are all in line, after you convert, your song to seq will be fine and play through fine.

FM the 2kxl manual.. But IMO still applies to your situation.

Converting a Song to a Sequence
The song mode function is convenient when assembling a song. When editing detailed data within
a song that has a complicated structure, it’s easier to assemble the song as 1 sequence and then
edit that sequence. In this type of case, it is a good idea to create the basic structure of the song
using the song mode and then convert that to one sequence. By doing that you can then use the
sequence’s edit function to further edit the song. When converted, the songs complete sequence
will be converted to a newly created sequence.

Note: Sequence settings set in step1 of the song will be applied as the settings of the new
sequence such as track name, track type (Drum or MIDI), MIDI OUT channel assign, MIDI
Program Change Assign, mixer, tuning
.

Song mode in all the MPCs just seem like an extra step to me. It's so easy to insert blank bars or copy and paste to the end of your sequence to extend your tune....

Song mode or seq mode, u can do songs either way.

I like song mode cause if I have a change in a seq, I just edit the seq in seq mode and it's automatic in song mode. No copying or pasting. I can do it either way, HAVE, done it both ways, I prefer song mode.

I was talking about this function with the JJ OS. I was wondering if anyone using the JJ OS has found any bugs with this function.

And I thought this was clear. I don't think too many people reading Getting Started own an MPC 2500 and use the JJ OS.....but I guess this is not so important.

You never said bugs.

I can't get the convert song to sequence to work
Sounds like a "getting started" type thingy for the fact that you didn't specify "how" it didn't work out for you. Our only thought was that you had problems with the tracks matching, cause, well, you didn't specify.

When talking about the many operating systems of JJ, it is usually implied that most talk is about bugs...thus I included JJ OS 5.09 versus just talking about MPCs in general. This was a specific JJ OS thread.
