I just bought the expansion board off of ebay. I installed it in my xl. I go to the mixer and I assign my individual outs. The problem is that the sound coming out is horribly distorted. I tried lowering the levels. The volume decreases but the sound is distorted still. Am I missing somethin? Did I get a bunk expansion card? Any help is appreciated. peace.

I think I remember a topic for the same or very similar problem with 8 outs. Make a search, and you should still catch it... it was sth like 2 months ago though :/

I would first check your cables as a short would give you distorted output. Next I would check your installation, try uninstalling make sure all your connections are clean (if they look dirty or corroded you can clean them with a q-tip and alcohol) then reinstall the card and try again. If those things don't fix it then you may need to make a trip to the repair shop.

I read every post on the site with "8 outs" in the title line. I found one person in 2005 with a very similar sounding problem, but if there was any resolution, it wasn't posted. But I'll look again about 2 months ago.

Thanks guys. I tried re intstalling it. It's not the cables, because they work fine through the main outs. I contacted the place I bought it from, and they have a service department. I am sending it in to have it tested.

I had that same issue whilst installing Mutec boards into a mpc2000 and also into a mpc2000xl...

Some 8 Out boards made by Mutec doen't work with the mpc2000 or mpc2000xl, BTW I am referring to those that are commonly found in the Akai s2000 rackmount sampler.

Good luck with the board & let us know how you get on.

So, I sent this board back to be tested by the seller's repair techs. They claim that they put it in an mpc and it worked fine. I really didn't think it was rocket science installing this ish, so they claim there may be a problem with my mp. Now I got an expensive paper weight, and my plans to do some tracking are on hold. I stopped separating by tracks on my beats b/c I was just going to send them to individual outs 4 multi tracking. This ish is weak.

I am waiting to try to find a friend who will let me put it in his/her 2kxl. The board was not a mutec board. If the board works in another mpc, I guess I am going to have my mpc looked at ... when I can afford it. The seller's id was acuramdx, but their company is named Virtual Sounds Technology. They had a very helpful service department. They said they could look at my mpc, but it could cost as much as $300 to fix. I just bought what is for me a lot of gear, so I don't have any room in the budget right now.
