COPYING SEQUENCE/DIRECT RECORD QUESTIONS

when i copy seq 1 to seq 2 and try to change a track i.e. (bass, or sample) flow to a different groove, seq 1 track changes also. how do i make change to tracks in seq that was copied to it doesn't effect seq 1 tracks?


second question: when i direct record from my keyboard with "click" and play back sample there's always blank space between the time i push play and when i hear the sample. how do i record with "click" and my sample que exactly when i press play? i've tried waiting for the count in and i've tried playing the keys as soon as i hit record but nothing works. any suggestions?

Are you sure you are changing the track, and not the program?

I don't think there is much you can do except trim the new sample in trim mode to get rid of the dead space.

say i lay down seq 1 w/bass, guitar, kick, hi hats etc. i copy seq 1 to seq 2, but now i want to change my bass to play a different beat/melody than seq 1 (which is on trk 1 on seq 1), do i need to record in a different track than i did in seq 1 for my bass?

If you just want to record different notes, no you don't.

If you change anything in the program, like tuning or the samples themselves, then you need to make a new program, or the one in the first sequence will have the same changes.

if i go to a new "program", and change my bass in sequence 1 how do i edit my beat with program 1 and 2 together that's not possible is it. i've seen this done in the dvd, something has to be left out. i just want to record my bass, guitar, hi hat or anything instrument or sample in seq 1 to change the feel of the instrument in seq 2 "without" changing or deleting the same instruments feel i had in seq 1.

If you want different bass notes in the second sequnece, your going to have to change the the way the notes are playing...so yes your going to have to erase the track that your bass in on and re-record it to your liking or another option, you could make adjustments to the bass track in step edit mode changing the T field and other fields as you see necessary.
