Cant afford to lose it....

I've recorded several sequences and after trying to save them I have come across the infamous "directory error" message. (Yes, I've gone through the archives of this problem and found no help to my following question).

Is there a way to save the sequences and samples to a computer or a way to esacape having to power off and try to remember the sequences, re-record the samples and make new programs??

This is day 3 of leaving the mpc on because I do not want to lose the material.

Could you explain how to save the entire memory via usb. The last time I attempted to save through usb, my sequences were not saved, only samples.

Do I have to convert the samples to another format or something?

try to get a flashcard, format it on the mpc and save your entire memory to it - without creating any folder!!! thank usually worked fine for me, when i got that error...

I already have the flashcard. I have never had any issues with saving until recently. It wont let me save it to the flashcard. Is there a way to make a new folder or something?


What I'm wondering is, can I save something onto the computer without saving it to the flashcard first?

I don't think so. Because, the computer recognizes the MPC as a large storage device and not vice versa. How much room you have left on the CF?

By the way, what OS are you running? JJ? AKAI?

If you are running the original OS, I would highly recommend going to JJOS 3.06 since it is free, but if you can swing $30 go with 4.5x. Right this minute the OS is 4.51.

I've got plenty of room left on the CF.

I'm running the updated akai OS which I believe is the 2.1....

So your saying I cant save what I have recorded? What if I made a new folder.....?

If not, whats the best way to go about retaining what I have on the CF and installing the JJ. (just remove the CF?) And where can I get the JJ for free?

On Akai's 2.10 OS, you need to create a new folder before attempting to save anything without coming up with any directory errors.
You're better off creating a whole bunch of new folders before you even start working on anything, just incase you forget beforehand.

The free version of the JJ OS 3.06 fixes the bugs that still plague the Akai 2.10 OS, as well as adding more features. I'd strongly recommend upgrading.

As soon as you're done upgrading to JJ OS 3.06, you MUST back up what you have saved on your CF card and/or hard disk and then FORMAT them in order to eliminate the problem completely.

Install it...

Then follow these instructions to format...

CORRECTION: JJ's instructions don't pertain to formatting on OS 3.06.

I just reinstalled 3.06 to see what's up (it wasn't hard to figure this out at all either... LOL)
