have tried the 500, 2000classic, and 2500. 2500 wins those by a mile.

question is have you tried them all brand new? usuage of the pads causes them to smoothen out a little bit. i've tried a 2000 (brand new pads), a 2000XL (on display at Sam Ash), and a new 1000. the 2000XL felt the best, but thats because they were somewhat worn out

yes you're right, the 4000 ones was better after a lot of work.
but prefer my 3000, maybe because it is old or maybe because on the new mpc's it feel like a micro latency when you play on it..
anyone buy some new one @ vst shop ?

Brand new 2kxlse2 pads are softer than brand new 2k/ 2kxl/ and brand new 1k pads imo.

I think the 2kXL feels the best to me. However, I'm sure by the time this thread is over we'll realize the same thing,...that everyone has a different opinion.

I say the 2KXL but I have only messed with the 500(mine), and a 1k @ Samash. I had a 2000 classic a while ago, and they seemed nice aswell.
Never tried any of the others, but I would like to get my hands on a 60 or a 3000.

I had my hands on 2k classic, 1k, 3k, 4k and 60. 60 takes the least effort to reach full level and also light taps for lower velocities. That's what people mean by 'soft pads', not the rubber itself. The newer mpc's have sensitivity settings, but i only tried default setting. everything else pretty much has standard mpc feel, except 1k, which feels like little wooden blocks covered in rubber.

I think most people are voting for whatever machine they own.

Have tried the 2000XL, 1000 and 3000. Like 3000 the most. And the whole machine is stronger built, so I dont feel like I'm breaking the machine using the pads. The 3000 pads i have tried has more of a rubber feel, and they feel thicker and a bitt higher. And they feel somewhat harder, so that the soft strokes becomes really low in volume and the hard strokes loud.
On the 2000 I could'nt get the same dynamics. Gentle strokes got louder in volume. Like the 3000 had a nice hard spring in the pad, and the 2000s have a little sloppy spring (of course there are no springs in the pads...).
The 1000s pads are just way too small on a way too small box.

of the ones I've tried, I's a toss up between the 2000xl and 2500. I don't mind the size of the 1000 / 500 but they just didn't feel nearly as sensitive even at max settings.

I've owned the 1000 and I own the 2kxl and the 2500 now. I have to say the 2kxl gives me the best dynamics for my drums. My 2500 is brand new though. So i'll give it a lil while b4 I make my final decision.
