OS memory has filled.
Only 896Kbytes can be written in although it thought that
there was 960Kbytes of memory area for OS.
This caused the trouble of OS V4.52 writing. It became impossible therefore, to add a big function more.
A small change, an addition, and correction of a bug are continued from now on.
1.GAME deleted.
2.MIDI IN ==> Q-LINK became impossible.

The end is near!

yeah, exactly!!! :D

Pong needed to go anyway. the game was so easy after the spaceships come out that i had more extra lives than i knew what to do with. after 200,000 points, i had to stop playing. i couldve kept going and scored 1,000,000, but whats the sense?

Theres really nothing to add to the OS at this point.
Any updates afterwards would just be bug fixes or any slight code changes to tighten things up wherever needed.

the next level should be paying for custom tailor made OS's. Like you can pick and choose features you want, request new ones specific to how you want them, and leave out what you don't need. I think that should be a business decision that should be considered by JJ. He could make more money, and people can get the features that they are really itching for. It's a win win situation.

However, I realize this may be unrealistic, but I see the opportunity regardless.

Pitch env would be nice. So would the ability to access major MPC function thru MIDI as mentioned in other posts/threads. Also, I'm glad JJ got rid of the Pong game because that was just wasting valuable memory that could otherwise be utilized for bug fixes or extra features.

finito, amigo!

Whatever tiny space is left won't hold anything major. So don't expect more than a few minor things if possible.

No room for improvements with the current MPCs......no new MPC at Messe...damn...what is there left to talk about

Looks like I must take a long vacation from the forum until a new MPC is released . (the sound of cheers and applause fill the room :P ).

and yeah we should get some tailor made os...like without all the extra sequencer note memory....that gay ass feature probally shortened the life of our monster o.s :(

quit whining! 300,000 notes was capable since the mpc2000xl, and the capacity of that machine was far less!

nah there is plenty more that can happen, i bet - there's a lot of code that could be reworked. for instance, what if program mode was abolished and combined with Global Param Edit? the only code needed would be the ability to edit/assign different layers of the pad.

so now
we have to start thinking of ways to MAKE MORE ROOM. what can be slimmed down? what can be merged with existing functions?

program mode is outdated compared to global param edit - all GPE needs is the ability to change the params only accessible currently thru program mode.

The mute functions are a bit more detailed in program mode(specifically, muting of selected pads when a pad is played, w/o the need to setup groups). Honestly, I would be sad if this was taken away to rid MODE+7, 'cause I like using that feature for hats more than groups.

With that said, I'm so stoked for the new MIDI Controller Akai announced, I'm almost indifferent to all this, hehe.

I'm talking out loud, but couldnt we stick a chip or hardware in the mpc to expand the memory capability for good old JJ?
