its only the end of the physical rom.... not of jj s mind.
it would be fine to have an accentuated software solution like one said
i agree totally.
only the improvements u really need for ur play.
i would pay for that!!!

would nt it be possible to solder a bigger rom inside the mpc??
(i don t know if the board supports it)
(the end of a physical(eprom) life, is often the beginning of an spiritual one...)

This caused the trouble of OS V4.52 writing.

I managed to install 4.52 fine... Did this happen to anyone else?

And really, if I upgrade to 4.23 now all I'm going to do is loose the game...?

OS memory has filled.
Only 896Kbytes can be written in although it thought that
there was 960Kbytes of memory area for OS.
This caused the trouble of OS V4.52 writing. It became impossible therefore, to add a big function more.
A small change, an addition, and correction of a bug are continued from now on.
1.GAME deleted.
2.MIDI IN ==> Q-LINK became impossible.

The end is near!

Onto the MPC500! That machine needs a better OS as well.

studio hermit wrote:and yeah we should get some tailor made os...like without all the extra sequencer note memory....that gay ass feature probally shortened the life of our monster o.s :(

i feel your frustration, but unfortunately the extra sequencer notes (or extra programs) do not take any extra room in code. it is just a different bondary for the memory allocated to it. (and memory is not code space)

ok well...
i don't really need the grid edit for audio tracks function(i still can't figure out what's the use of it...any tip?)
i would really prefer midi in CC...
so instead of buying a midi controller to remote the mpc, i will need to buy something that make sound with knob (korg emx 1 or something...)

it's been a great work JJ, hope that will can approch a bug free os...

Antonym wrote:nah there is plenty more that can happen, i bet - there's a lot of code that could be reworked. for instance, what if program mode was abolished and combined with Global Param Edit? the only code needed would be the ability to edit/assign different layers of the pad.

so now
we have to start thinking of ways to MAKE MORE ROOM. what can be slimmed down? what can be merged with existing functions?

program mode is outdated compared to global param edit - all GPE needs is the ability to change the params only accessible currently thru program mode.

come on nym, there is nothing to be merged really. and there is no reason to take out program edit against GPE. i personaly would rather see GPE go really. but people use it, so let it be there and thats it. same applies to the program edit and the rest.

as the say. all good things have an end. :)

on the other hand, now is the good time to find all the bugs and get them fixed. and then we will have the best os ever. :P

perhaps JJ should remove
-the audio outs selections because we still can pan...
-the splash screen function
-the real time pitch shift

im happy that that jj ran out of memory. This way the incredibly lame 8 bit 12 bit sampling wont happen. is pong still there? it was kinda fun for 2 seconds but the mpc is not game consol.so it should be ditched. Its kinda nice to knowing further upgrades will be minor bug fixes. This way i can relax and not pay attention to bugs ,updates and what not. JJ should be awarded a medal.
