Another thing I noticed, and I'm curious if anyone else had that as well:

I recently noticed my 2500 becoming way slow, meaning much delayed reaction to button presses, delayed opening of windows, lagging scroll motion in Trim etc... similar to a PC under really heavy load. I had it running for a while before on the balcony in the afternoon sun, which might have warmed it up additionally.

Anyone else had that before?

Yes, I've noticed a certain lag one it's been on for a while. Plus the mode key needing a more pronounced press when it's been on for a while.

When cold everything reacts instantly.

I'd be interested to see if those who have it on a stand have seen this one...

One day It might catch some glitch!

I've been noticing this recently as well, but it does seem to have to do with my disk filling up and projectsw that use a lot of ram.

I have a harddisk built in as well, don't know how much heat that produces however.

I definitely don't have full RAM or harddisk. But I think this might be two different effects anyway.

anyone of you noticed that your harddisk is spinning all the time when the mpc is on?
mine will not stop after i power on the mpc. the only thing i can do is load one single sample either from hdd or cf-card and go back to main screen. then it will enter power saving and stop spinning in less then three seconds after i leave the load/save page.
this behaviour does not change if i turn autoload on/off or switch autoload to cf-card. hdd is either a hitachi or samsung 80gb (sorry i don´t remember exactly as a load of hardware goes through my hands).
another thing to add to this thread: what temperatures are we speaking here? stilo you from germany we have 18°C at the moment, but what about some hot regions?

So...what does it do now, does it spin down or not? Sounds a little confusing...

Mine does spin down immediately after I load or save something, which is a little annoying sometimes because it takes longer when you jump in and out of the Load screen often, having to wait for the harddrive to spin up first. Toshiba 40GB drive.

Yes, that's why I added I used it in the sun. I really think this only happens in unusually hot conditions, be it in Death Valley like ambient temp., standing in the sun (the black case doesn't help there either...) or when running for a very long time with poor ventilation.

Yeah, I occasionally get lag.

Whether its because its;
1 hot
2 memory
3 midi

I dont know.

And I have a 80GB disk
