here's something that's ALWAYS irked me.
anybody noticed that in trim mode, play from and play to don't work the same way?

play to plays the whole sample up until X point.
play from plays from X point and then STOPS without playing the remainder of the sample.

why is this?
i call it a bug, but it may just be one we've lived with for so long we don't notice its sprawling anthill

it so that if you're chopping a large sample, you don't have to wait for it to finish. on a related issue, i would love for the loop point and start point to update with every loop of the sample in trim mode, rather than every depress/press of a pad.

Not sure if I got this right, but play to doesn't play the whole sample (and has never done so since OS 1). That wouldn't make sense to me anyway, cause I use play to to quickly check a trim point, for example. And why should play from play the whole sample? If you use it from start point, you can press any other pad to hear the whole sample. And you normally don't work with the part after the end point, so you don't need to hear it, do you?
Peace

i didn't mean the whole sample i meant all of the selected sample - ie from the start point to the finish point. it just cuts off early.

yeah i didn't mean the whole sample, before start point

To play from start point to finish point --> use play loop or any of the 12 lower pads...? Why do you need play from for that?

ok this is hugely difficult to communicate via text

here's the whole sample (top line) and bottom line is selected part of sample

===================
....................

roughly 2/3rds of this 1 minute sample are selected. 20 seconds after the end point are NOT selected.

now, go to your end point and hit play from
if your sample is a long one, PLAY FROM doesn't play it all the way to the end of the REAL sample, it plays about 5 seconds FROM and then cuts off.

now am i clear? sorry about the confusion here.
