You guys are approaching the "influencial" debate from different cultures. Jungle and D n B were enormous in England in the 90s, but a lot of Americans don't/didn't listen to it nearly as much. It's very interesting that one break was used so much as to inspire a whole genre. I like that he uses the phrase "fetish" to describe it in that video.
"Funky Drummer" has been sampled a ton also. I can see both sides of discussion here. It didn't single handedly create a genre quite like the amen break, but I would mos def agree that JB was enourmously influential on music. Both hip hop and jungle might not exist without the god father of soul, may he rest in peace.

hiphop and D&B right? thats what your saying, there one in the same practically, they took BREAKs from rap and vocals from rap records sped them up and to make D&B. how are they different ? the people that follow it? i dont get it.
that break was used for rap music first then some dude sampled it again to create another genre.

OK, I'm sorry to express my opinion about music. Obviously peeps get worked up pretty bad if you say something they don't like.
All I'm saying is: one break creating a whole genre against several decades of one artist's work.
That was it. But peeps don't like when you play devil's advocate and throw something interesting into the mix. I'm not taking anything away from the Funky President by saying what I'm saying either.

Id say the Amen break outddoes the funky drummer break in that it really did kick start a whole genre. but to say JB's whole cannon? thats crazy because hes inspired people of just about every genre of music there is.

i 'm just sayin that europeans took the techno and house to a higher level thats why alot of the producers we had here in chi have gone over there to make music and they tour more over there....it's not a bad thing tho. you guys just have more respect for the music.
