Hey everyone, I have been looking online for some free samples. I came across this site

http://machines.hyperreal.org/manufacturers/Roland/TR-909/samples/

for the 808 and 909 samples. Does anyone know of any other sites that have samples like this one? How do you guys build your sound library in general? Do you sample records and take out kicks, hats, bass, etc? I would like to know how most of you do this.

Thanks

I got my TR808 samples by connecting my TR808 to the MPC4000's line inputs and sampling it!

I just got my beast a few weeks ago and I’m also in the process of building my library. I found something from acid loops for the akai that was 32 different drum kits which seems to be fairly nice. If you can get your hands of a copy of Reason you can use it to open the refills for it, that has everything and then some for samples, and just sample and save them right into your library. I might try what feline 1 did and connect the beast to my MC909 containing plenty of samples along with a SRX 8 card to suck some samples off of it.

I have a Reason 1.3 cd with the SoundBank CD. Is there any way that I can get the sounds off of the Reason CD onto the MPC? For some reason if I try and open the CD in My Computer I can't get the sounds off of the cd. Any ideas on how to do this?

Reason´s sound banks are in Refill format, all sounds are in one file. You can extract them with Reason and then export audio files individually (it´s a slow and hard job...). The other way to do this is downloading RefillViewer, an unofficial rare little app that lets you explore Refills and extract the sounds you want... but it sometimes doesn´t work properly. This program isn´t in any web site, just search it with emule...
