Try and check yourself.
If you can hit rec or overdub with play while being in the mute screen it should work. I doubt that you can go to mute screen from the main one, so just try this option.

By the way, if the above one doesn't work, why not just mute the tracks you don't want to listen, go to the main screen and then record.
Plus - you can't record track muting to the sequence, just in case if you were goin' to try that.
in the book it says go to the track mute to turns tracks on or off using the pads but what i want to do is record these changes live and use the those changes in to a seq.. if this is not poss i should be able to send the track data via the 8 outs and record it live with changes with cubase...
i was just wondering if anyone else had tryed this or had a problem like this????? thanks for your reply
Otherwise, use the copy method mentioned. Its can be tedious, but you will be able to get everything the way you want it. You can then drop those sequences into a song to have it automated for you.
well i have done that but i have a seq pallete sa at seq 70 which is the hook then once ive made a song say 20 trach and 40 seq thin i do the editing but use track mute as an edit tool before delting the parts i dont want and if i make a mistake i go back and copy from pallete
