Tracking to Pro Tools, loop timing off.

I recorded a 4 bar beat from my mpc 2500+korg x50...it sounds fine while looping on the mpc, but after i sync up to pro tools and record the 4 bars and loop it a few times from the region menu the timing is a little off after the loop starts over. its like the kick is overlapping at the end or somethin. i just got my mpc yesterday so im still new at this and i have checked the manual/search function. any help is appreciated.

...what audio interface are you using? and how do you sync? midi clock, mmc, mtc? which device is master? or are you saying that you recorded an audio loop into protools and when looping that it goes out of sync with itself? maybe your kick sample is to long and therefore overlaping at the loop point of the sequence.

the problem you are having is a timing glitch that akai hasn't fixed since OS1.2. for this reason i still use 1.1 but will probably be switching to JJ soon. there are many threads on this subject. some people don't believe this and think that you need to adjust some settings, etc, but if you lock an mpc to protools or nuendo, cubase, digital performer etc using midi beat clock it locks a certain way, and with mpc2500 os 1.2, 1.21, and 1.22 the mpc actually plays before the beat consistently... so it sounds right until you try to edit on the grid, which will cause drum attacks to be cut off, etc.

I just recorded the loop in 4 bars with mpc loop turned off.. you then need to set the tempo in pro-tools and trim the recorded region.

This worked fine for me... I cant for the life of me figure out how to set up the midi clock to sync... Any help with this would be appreciated.

Yeah I use that method too. I've gone up to 8 bars and it seems to work fine. I match tempos and then record into ProTools without true sync. I'll usually record about 9 bars so that I can see where to exactly trim the end of the loop so that the transition is clean and smooth. Then I trim the beginning and end and then place in the ProTools grid and I duplicate the 8 bars for the length of the song that I need. You can also get away with this when you use the loop playback. I know this is idiot sync but it works for me. I have never been able to get a full song where everything is synced perfectly between MPC and ProTools or older versions of Cubase. I don't know if Cubase 4 works better. I've always been able to get perfect sync between MPC and Reason. Some say the sync issue is an MPC thing but my MV wouldn't sync properly either to ProTools or Cubase. I'm an idiot though. The real pros will tell you how to do it right.

i used midi beat clock to sync the mp and pt. both manuals were pretty str8 forward.


and my kick wasnt off...everything loops fine in the mp. all tempos are matched also
