Timing correct

metronome and timing can be aggervating. metronome clicks are loud and you can't really get it to play at the tempo you want. What is a good note value 1/8 might be to slow and 1/16 might be to fast. any way it makes the playback off. is turning the note value off better

depends what you're trying to acheive.
try setting the swing to a slider, try the different TC settings,
and try putting the cursor to the tempo and turn your data wheel until the tempo feels right.
Another thing to try is doubling tempo, this give your sequencer twice the timing resolution and is good if you want to record with TC off.

experiment and practice, you should find something that works for you eventually.

The metronome is the machines timing, no it doesn't.
What you are hearing that is off is you, unfortunately. Learn how to manipulate the timing. There's only your understanding of it standing in your way.

Remember when you started riding a bike? Didn't it took you some time practicing and mastering it?

i just got a a mpc 1000 this week like a few days old but the only problem i am having is ya the play back is off i metronome is at it s default i think that da best one for me but i second the other guy who said its like riding well i hope so

did you actually try lowering the tempo? if 1/16 sounds too fast then slow the tempo itself down.

the timing correct put the notes you record into predefined slots along the time line, so if it's set to 1/16, you have 16 slots per bar. if you miss the 'slot window' (by that i mean you have a 16th of a bar in seconds to play a note for it to go in that slot) by a tiny fraction, the mpc will put the note into the next slot or the previous one, which can be a dramatic change and make it sound like crap. try turning the timing correct off, or to a higher value, this'll give you a higher resolution of slots, so any mistakes you make won't move as far.

failing being able to play in time, there's always the grid edit screen in the JJOS or step edit with which you can move the notes around afterwards. fine if it's one or two, but learn to play in time, and you eliminate this 'housekeeping' altogether.
