Okay, now that we know there is non-Akai ram available and working I'd like to know how much ram do we really need? To me 128mb is overkill and 64mb is plenty. 2000xl users get by with 32mb so I would think 64mb is plenty. To me it's more cost effective to buy 64mb and spend the extra money I've saved on a CF card. Just my opinion...

wery good thinking, 64 is enought in almost all cases. 128 is good when you load alot of songs at the same time. Let's say you have 20 finished songs and you want all of them to be loaded. Or...if you use alot of wery long samples and vocals. But even then 64 is often enough.

i can only imagine how long it would take to load up 128 meg into teh mpc. anybody out there time it ?? ha ha seriously in the middle of a live set if power goes down, it'll be like forever to get the show back up. i am up to 20meg and it already seems kinda like a slow load. i guess in the studio it doesnt really matter....
