sampling from dvd player

when i hook my 1000 up to record from a dvd player i get a hum,

anyone know why i have this problem should i run thru a stereo , my wires are new and i tried diffrent ones its just when i record from the dvd player i have this problem

when i sample from turntable its fine thanks for you help

Hum can have a lot of sources. The connected TV, your audiocables
along and near the AC cables etc.

If you have a PC, it may be easier to rip the disc to your harddrive.
That way you can use any application to cut the samples, convert
them to 16 bit 44.1 kHz without leaving the digital domain

also, many dvd players have a digital out, you could use that.

Many dvd-players output a 24 bit (multichannel) stream, so check the
specs of your particular player.

Im still new to tha mpc, and I dont have much gear...I actually use a dvd player to sample most of things I use..but heres what I've noticed from usin' tha dvd player..cds ..they work perfect I've had NO problems..I pick a rca red or white take it out of tha plug that goes from dvd audio to tv...and on tha dvd I put tha plug in tha coaxil plug and then tha other end in my mpc and have zero troubles...HOWEVER...I have tried sampling actual dvds ..and it dosen't work..see I dont have a stereo or anything like that..so it connects directly from dvd to mpc..so maybe you do need to use a stereo..if your home dvd set up is like dvd to stereo maybe it'll work from sampling the stereo...'cause I really think its something to do with motion picture copywrite shit....

Like when you try and record a dvd while its playing to a vhs blank tape...its all scrambled and shit.......I think that may be tha problem...'cause even bonus dvds worked with me...but they where sort of warped though...like hi teks hi tek v.2...tha bonus disc ...I wanted tha toms that he did ..and I sampled them and it worked but I had to time stretch to get it to a normal speed..'cause it sounded slow...

See..then I tried to sample some quotes from Belly...and I just heard humming ..and EEEEE....so maybe a connection threw somethin' else will work...so far from what I know..you cant directly sample a motion picutre move into tha mpc 1000......one.

Unless you are wanting to sample directly to your MPC, you can play the DVD in your computer and record the audio with your audio software, then transfer the wav file to your MPC.

IF the dvd disc has no protection then yeah the digital out will work but then u may have the problem of mismatching bit/sample rates.

Your ONLY workable choice would be analog out into your mpc.

Yo Lampdog (or anyone else who knows), is running your DVD audio outs into the AUX inputs on a basic home stereo, then running the headphone jack on that stereo to REC IN on the MPC a way around this? I ask because I have sampled from DVDs in the past, going about it this way, with no problems. The DVDs I sampled were very obscure, older movies, so I'm wondering if this is a workaround, or if those DVDs just weren't protected in the first place...

very easy...take a cord thats 1/8 inch jack on both sides, put one end running out of the (phones) jack on the T.V. put a 1/4 inch adapter on the other end and run it mono into the MPC. But.. not all T.V. s have the phones option.
