i am an MPC beginner and yes there are days i am sad when cannot find a way to finish a track the way i am used to do it in Software for years....
That is why i am hanging on the forum - to learn from more experienced MPC users and if i would discover my own tip or a trick i would share it with others too...
JJ OS needs a proper english manual with some real life day to day user examples. or a Video manual made by someone that is very proficient in MPC and JJOS.

Wasn't the Forum about sharing with others?

what is actually *sad* is your attitude. if you took time to understand the context of the request you wouldn't be in such a hurry to look like an internet tough guy. the JJ OS has exploded the potential of mpc1000 use, and antonym has already detailed many specific approaches to the new functionality. a video would enhance these text explanations 1000%. why you wouldn't want to support this is beyond me.

yeah i'm gonna have to agree here, i mean i myself would love to see someone else working on the jj os, just as much as other folks would want to see some of the things i've been describing. videos are easier to follow. unfortunately i've just been so damn busy recently that it's been a straight nightmare to handle all my own business, let alone doing video stuff. it will happen though, i need something to go on the "tips" page.

can you break down advanced jj os functionality in a coherent and concise manner? can you show the potential jj brings with regard to new twists on programming beats? if so, get on it.

no, i've been doing some thought about this and i'm most definitely gonna get on it. i've got a TON of stuff and workflow processes that i want to show you guys - not only to show, but to have them critiqued and commented on, like "oh i do it this way" or "hah that's funny"

so
i may actually get on this tomorrow. i have absolutely no camera experience but i work at my school's video center and have access to some pretty damn decent cameras. i could hook something up.

i will be recording to mini DV tape, and then digitizing from their maclab...i have 1 day's worth of final cut experience, but i think i can get at least something edited.

hopefully i will have my first youtube video!

i think for the first one i am just gonna record myself working on it with minimal commentary. zoomed in and centered on the mpc so the screen, pads and controls are all visible.

just for editing's sake, it being a first video, i think that will be simpler.

however, future ones can be specific, like chopping a sample or velocity layers.

Nym I've done some video editing before and final cut can be a pretty tough program. If they have iMovie you could edit your movie really fast, but stick with final cut if you plan on using it in the future. Oh yeah bring your mpc with you so you have something to do while rendering.

i finally got ahold of video capabilities and i just finished filming my "how to solder" part of the PAD FIX install.
later on today i'm gonna be filming the rest of the PAD FIX install but afterwards i'm gonna do some jj stuff.

i figure that this is what i'll do - maybe not in this order. (quotes = requests by EARWOLF)

first vid - chopping a sample in JJ os using the "DIVIDE AND CONQUER" strategy

how fast-as-recycle manual chops can be achieved on the 1k with the new jj chop

and how to make the most of grid - timing nudge techniques etc

3rd vid - "Waveform Simult Layers and You"

advanced layer and q link tricks - to get the creative juices flowing - i might not necessarily do what you do, but seeing what you do might make me think 'aha!'

how to lay out your pads so that grid display makes most sense
