Discuss the various methods you use in music production, from compressor settings to equipment type.

Alright - Let me let y'all in on a technique I use.

Make sure your acapella is in .wav format. Cut the acapella into pieces. Verse for Verse. Hook for Hook. Make sure you cut them precisely at the beginning parts. (sample the beat to find the bpm's prior to this so you have a ball park figure of what matches and what doesn't).

It's tougher to match the whole acapella in one shot cause even if your off by a tenth of a bpm the acapella will eventually fall off timing.

In Cool Edit Pro there is a pitch bend option under the transform menu. A graphical screen pops up which lets u change the pitch from the beginning to the end of the .wav sample. Always make sure the beginning and end pitches are the same - use the preview button on the pitch bender screen in CEP while the beat plays on the Mpc. (let your beat play on the mp and click the "preview" button on the CEP Pitch Bend screen at the point in the bar of your beat where you would start spitting). Keep doing this until you notice the acapella verse is matching with the beat from it's beginning to end.

Once you know the pitch you want - edit and save the .wav acapella piece. Use the same setting for the next verse...hook...etc.

Once all acapella .wavs are pitched to how you want - place them in the proper position over your beat in CEP Multi-Track mode.

(I've done crazy ish with this - A few months ago I made a joint with Mos/Talib/Nas/Prodigy/Red & Meth and 50cent acapellas all on one of my beats).

There u have it y'all.

How come my 12's don't have bpm on them? I just let the record play with 0 pitch, and match up the mpc's bpm to the record. It will take you a minute, but it's pretty easy that way.
It's not that hard to do it the other way around (or is it?).

i sample the instrumental on the mpc to get my bpm. then when i put the acapella on the turntable with my beat i just use the pitch on the turntable to make minor adjustments. i find this is the best way for me. it always goes off timing if i don't fluctuate the pitch just a tad.

hopefully that makes sense.

peace.

And while I do respect the hustle, I am a bit confused....

Why is it that, when you're beat was getting no bids (therefore suggesting no one might want to buy it)...why would you then RAISE the asking price AND the BUY_IT_NOW Price?

You RAISE the price when no one seems interested? Wouldn't common sense tell you to LOWER the price if demand is low? Hmmmm....Seems like backwards business logic to me. Respect for the effort though, and I still haven't heard the beat, just offering advice.

No bids on it yet. I thought I would throw my line in and see if there were any fish out. Might change the beat, but if it doesn't work, then I will forget about the "EBay" thing.

Anyone get that automatic bpm thing working that reads when you play the song, it just locks up on me :(

I'm reading Donald Trump's new book. He was having a hard time selling condos in a cetain area, so he raised the price and got more sales  . I thought I would give it a go. Plus, the auction isn't just for the beat as it sits now. It would have to be arranged to accomidate the future emcee, might have to add samples and whatnot. Seems a fair price for the work.

But, all in all, sometimes you gotta jump in the water.

Yo, Binger, you know of a better place to sell beats? I'm almost at where I need to be as far as gear goes, so I really only have to hustle up a little mo' dough.
