It took me almost two years to compile this list of questions

enjoy

After creating synths from internal pads using note on loop feature and 16 level key can I create a new program?

What is a granular synth?

What is a midi controller?

In the Record field the time section is defaulted to 39 seconds does that mean if I buy a cd that’s all instrumental it will record up to 39 seconds of a song from the CD? (IVe never sampled before.)

Can I simply hook the MPC up to a portable CD player (line-out) w/o a mixer??

I just want to get use to sampling the manual doesn’t say I need one? Can I also use the CD-rom as an external sampling source and take music from a CD in my CD rom and put it in my MPC??

Can I record a CD from my PC and put it on my MPC?

I thought in order to get my sequences to play in the PC I needed to resample them so that they are in wav. Format. Well I did it and than I assigned it to a pad (D03) and I wanted to know how to get it to show up in the mass storage drive on my PC?

Where can I locate the Pre factory sounds?

I’ve downloaded some sounds from free MPC library and wanted to know how I go about assigning them to pads? Also where do I go to get Music Program Creator? How much is it? What does it Do?

Do I need some sort of recording software to get my sequences to play on my PC?

What are the different extensions used for .Wav Snd. Aps Pgms. Etc.?

Someone typed connect the 1/4inch mono plugs to the analog left and right inputs on your 1 thousand. (Where are these inputs I only see Digital, Record in, Stereo Out Assignable Mix Out etc.?

What are “Patches”?

Someone said the delay is in FX2 but I cant find it does anyone know what that poster might be talking about?

How do you layer tracks where is it in the manual?

What does delay do?

I used 16 level key and only thing I could sense is that some pads sound soft and other louder. What is the difference between delay and velocity? I cannot tell by listening.

What is gain and threshold used for under the Master effect? And what happens when compression is turned on or off?

Is the master effect used for one pad? One track? Sequence? All.

What does “wet/dry”?

I tried to see if I could hear a difference between attack and decay when I turn on the compressor but I couldn’t?

I messed around with both closed and open high hats using mute groups like someone had suggested but didn’t hear anything new.

What does the lock mean in loop mode under trim?

Some one said in order to continuously play a pad or sample by hitting once turn the pad into a oneshot well I did but it didn’t work.

Does the T.C. only work with the note repeat button? IN other words can I quanitize a sequence to play 1/8 and then switch it to 1/32?

The swing feature makes it seams as if the pad sound drum is galloping why would that be good?

Does anyone have a beate where they use high hates alternatively going from 1/8th to 1/32th?

Why does it say in step edit end sequence when I try to use pitch blend polypressure or when I switch the data wheel and what does the control change do?

Where can I set individual pads to either mono or poly?

What values do you use for decay in step edit mode I Used 00000100010000000100100 pattern?

I didn’t realize that the filter was only assigned to certain pads default and that I had to go to program mode to adjust the filter levels for the other pads. How would you sonically describe filters? Why are they used?

Tip: assign two pads (snare drums) to filter use time repeat to repeat pads use data wheel to switch from low pass to high pass in real time.

I resampled (Record mainout) some sequences and assigned them to different pads so that each pad triggers a sperate sequency? Is this what the purpose is? The MPC is defaulted to 39 seconds If I expand Ram will that increase the time? I also heard to import files on computer you should convert sequences to .wav files? What files are they recognized as? In what circumstances would you want to convert sequences to wav. Files?

Can some one explain midi vs audio? Is there a specific software I can use to convert wav. Files to midi or vice versa?
