I paid about 540 for this piece, it only has 16 or 12 mb and no 8 outs or eb16. It didn't even come with a power chord and the machine was sticky as hell! I mean it - there was sticky stains all over the machine but i clean it off. I dont know why the owner would let such filth touch the surface of this beautiful thing. But hey I'm still happy can't wait to study the manual and gradually learn this sexy machine;) Dude also gave a CF card reader or muticard reader but didn't install it - i wouldn't know how to transfer files from my computer so i'll guessi will keep the floppy

1 question as always though

without 8 outs i cant eq indivual instruments?

say like kick, snares, a chop sampled?

when i output the mpc to the mixer does that mean that only the main channel (whole song) get the eq tweaks without 8 outs?

I'm not sure what to do next... I think im going to the bell tower and shoot some people - then save their lives with archaic live saving medical science.

P.S

I herd about the mpc + asr-10 = good combo
But whats the difference? I'm not talking about specs? but about there musical purpose?

they are both samplers correct? except one is a keyboard sampler and the other is in pad form?

i found a maxed out EPS-16+ for a good price in my area. I'm thinking about getting this because it so cheap atm - but isn't just a sampler too? what would be the point of having two samplers? is it because the keyboard samples provide keys and the abilities of having 61 keys? to take a paino sound/sample and make a melody as opposed to the 16 pads (though u can make dope melodies on the mp too) wouldn't it be better off getting a sound module? any help be great. and sorry if im wrong on a few or nall points since im new to HW. Thanks fellow musicians.

Congrats first off, second, check out this link, every page has something good on it, go through it, you'll see info about the card reader install for 2kxl.

Also TWEAKHEADZ.com has ALOT of good info, it's in your best interest to NOT sleep on that site.

The eb16 has a 4 band filter in it.

You choose how you want the sounds to be output. W/o the 8outs and eb16, there's no type of eq'n and no 8outs, main out ONLY.

MPC and ASR are both samplers, yes, ASR have more tools inside than 2kxl, LOTS more.

i found a maxed out EPS-16+ for a good price in my area.
If you can find an ASR10, that would be a better choice than the EPS.

Yo lampdog ... i fear making new threads on these boards without using the search function first... and even when i use the search function and decide to make a new thread I'm really concern with searching it throughly cuz if i dont i might get my arse chewed out by the big lampdog. lol.

Thanks and i really appreciate it.

Your question didn't seem SUPER lost or anything so I feel comfortable answering you.

People take me the wrong way, they are too serious, or I'm not serious enough, who knows.

Lamp seems pretty cool but he's not the only one here.....there's cat's who are not mods that seem to simply lurk around waiting to tell you how stupid your question is and BTW ...RTFM.....There's also been a rash of thread locking lately that seems a bit overboard but that's obviously just an opinion....

More then usually ud only really need to take things from the mpc to the pc not the other way around, due to samplin off records, which is what the mpc is for (sampler / sequencer).. As for puttin things from MPC to ur computer, ud use the audio outputs and record it out from ur mpc into ur comp audio in.

As for the CF or floppy.. its for saving ur things on.. and u best get that cf thing installed..

Good luck savin to floppy lol, coz seriously its gonna take disks and disks per beat, so u best get stocked up with at least 100 floppy disks, and be prepared to wait quite long while it saves ur samples each time

And on top of that the lifespan of floppies is nothing fantastic to say the least.

naw i got tons of sounds that i use in fl that i wanna use for drums and I wanna bring it over to the mpc in wav. or snd. - then after i get tired with the 9th wonder drum kit ill get to sampling my own drums.

But i hear you guys and thanks for your input. I had this sexy machine for 4 days now and havent use it - still need the 1/8 to 1/4 jack for the headphones/speakers. How bout this mpc doesnt even work? lol.

anyway what about the manual? i dont have the hard copy- i would rather buy the beatmaking on mpc 2000xl and get that printed and binded. Would mpc2000xl do me justice if i dont use the manual? Thanks.

Have a good day

Come on man hiphop is about diggin and samplin, diggin for sounds is a huge part of it, bigger then the actual buildin of beats because the sounds u find and use are the basis of ur style.. also u'll have to learn to dig, so best start learnin sooner then later otherwise it could be a set back.

Also those dodgy "drum kits" like the 9th wonder ones are wack, because they are made from peeps samplin drums directly off hiphop tracks 99% of times which is a total no no.. that sh!ts wrong and against the rules

Get diggin man, and seriously once u get really into it and start findin dope sh!t u'll become addicted quick

naw i got tons of sounds that i use in fl that i wanna use for drums and I wanna bring it over to the mpc in wav. or snd.
In FL program folder, do a search for *.wav. Throw those into your mpc, and away you go with FL samples.

You will know if it works once you use it.

anyway what about the manual? i dont have the hard copy
The 2kxl manual from the akiapro site is free, there's no excuse for not downloading it.

Would mpc2000xl do me justice if i dont use the manual?
You'll know if it works if you USE the mpc and not just ask, you know.

Have a good day
You too.

all i got say is classic lampdogg reply. but good sir what i was asking here was would the mpc2000xl beatmaking manual serve as a alternative to the manual. for the basic. if so i would rather purchase, print and bind this.

Would mpc2000xl do me justice if i dont use the manual?
You'll know if it works if you USE the mpc and not just ask, you know.

But lamp dogg your an og and you make me laugh tons on this site and you know your gear too man . peace.
