I'm about to make a mixtape using alot of old school instrumentals.

just wanna know if any of the old school cats here know what classic 12" singles had instrumentals on it?

for example I coulda swore my Slick Rick "Children's Story" had an instro on it but it didn't... (must of been thinkin bout Montel Jordan's "This is how we do it")

thanks in advance...

Usually original copies of the 12" have intrumental's on it, I am guessing your Slick Rick album is a re-issue.

It must of been, I bought it 7 years ago, most of the singles I bought back in the day have instro's on it... I didn't even know they did represses 7 years ago, thats probably why I thought it was an original.

I'm not really up on the ebay thang, but has anybody on this forum bought some original 12' singles off of ebay? if so, which ones?

Strictly for da Ladies. Lord Finnesse & DJ Mike Smooth (Primo did the cuts). Produced by DJ Premiere. Wild Pitch Records. Throw on that instumental and a Mary J. Blije accapella and you'll be an instant legend (because most of these youngsters ain't heard no sh*t like that). Trust me. one.

OLDSCHOOL WHAT? RAP or OLDSCHOOL OLDSCHOOL?

cause theres alot most of the records in the 80's all had instmls
on the 80's records alot of the time they went under (DUB MIX) they had only a few drops here and there.

Give the Drummer Some - Ultramagnetic MCs

Every time I play this instro out I get at least one dude asking about this record. Tell them its Ultra and young cats look all WTF and walk away.

Plus its my favourite beat from the 80s.

Welcome to the Terrordome - Public Enemy
Times Up - OC
Any early Wu stuff

damn man I could go on all day but I gotta get back to work. Just a few of my favourites for ya to get started!!

in regards to 80's to early 90's rap...

Most my original singles got the instro on them but a few of the classics don't... i.e "Ain't No Half-Steppin", "Children's Story" (might be a repress)... just tryin to network and avoid the ones have either those dub mix instro's or no instro at all.
