MPC1000 Hard Drive Recommendations

Okay people, Its up and running...damn, at times...I'm such a novice...yea I hit up hip hop tools.com and they ran me through the troubleshoot...took all of 2.5 minutes...I uh needed to format the drive ::::whispering "don't I feel...":::::::anyway its a seagate 60 g drive...they got me up and running and the drive works just fine...thanks hiphoptools and thanks mpcforum...i got the mpc 1000 tutorial 'bout 2 wks ago so I'll get into that in a day or two.

I just got my mp last week, do i need to download the JJOS to be able to add a hardrive into my mpc? Or can i just install it the way it is?

No...I asked the same question...OS is what it is, an "Operating System"...I don't use it, but it does add some additional functionality to your MPC...I haven't used all the functions of the original OS...I think there is a forum that talks more about JJ...the new hardrive I added needed to be formatted...same thing if you purchased a new compact flash card...takes all of 1-2 minutes.

1. Mode
2. Pad 2 or 3 (load or save)
3. F3 "UTILIT" select what you would like to format in the "Device" field and then F6 and it will format.

refer back to users manual for further reference.

A HARD DRIVE IS USELESS if you're using the akai o.s. since it corrupts the files on it.I learned it the hard way even the work around has'nt worked for me...what a waste of money

I have the HD adapter and i just got the Seagate HD today but the pins don't match up. I know i need IDE 44 pins but it doesnt say anything like that on any of the boxes at best buy so i just got this one and now it wont fit. How do i differentiate between the two models when i go back tomorrow???
When you look on the boxes the picture of the HD doesnt show the pins, has this happened to anyone else???

Got me a Seagate Momentus 5400.3 80GB IDE ATA, it's working mighty fine!

I got a Seagate Momentus 80GB and it works great. Since I live in Canada another member of the forum suggested hiphoptools.com from Toronto and boy I was not disappointed... got a hip hop magazine (POUND), a hip hop CD compilation *AND* a bonus CD with drum kits... I was really impressed... Oh, and you can get the HDM10 kit there too. Highly recommended.

i just got a samsung mp0804h 80gig and the kit, put it in the MPC and fired it up... took like 2 minutes to finally boot and once it finally did the format screen doesnt recognize the drive. did i get a shitty drive or is there something i can do?

On to my question:

Will the new black models accomodate a hard drive without purchasing the adaptor? I saw something posted earlier about it, but nobody responded. I didn't want to order the adaptor and then have to deal with returning it, etc.
