Sample-Based Producers question?

sup guys i really excited about getting my mp and finally getting to go purchase some vinyl.

Please dont flame me-

i know a sample producer is only limited by his/her imagination but do you guys every miss making synth beats/original melodies? man i know i'm going to miss it a hell of a lot. I like being able to work on both craft - sampling and synth. but hardware cost money and i wont have cpu access for cpu beat production.

right now all i have is a midi keyboard. is there a quality sound module for a decent price or some other equipment that could aid me in making synth beats. Could you offer some suggestion? of course the module or equipment would interact with the mpc.

Becuz i usually make one synth the one sample beat.

I can't afford a roland fantom module but maybe in the price range of an emu mo phatt? peace.

you can still create your own melodies, using 16 levels and chopping properly. you dont have to loop everything.

You can use a synth with the mp..

u can use Reason or other software as a sound module with the mp..

why are you thinking that you are stuck with sampling now that u have an mpc...

lol i wasn't talking smack with sampling cuz i said "i know a sample producer is only limited by his/her imagination"

i'm also comfortable with using 1 bar chops as well as loops. but i also said i wont have a computer to supplement the mpc for music production any longer. Sometime i just like playing my own chords and such. just asking for suggestion on a decent sound module or another equipment that will supplement the mpc well at a good price. Thanks.

p.s i dont think im limited to sampling on the mp:)

every melody i invent has a sample at it's core-
all my synth/key sounds were sampled.......mostly from vinyl-
i like to sample my oberheim matrix 6 synth and mess with it thru
extra effects-
or maybe sample a loop into my newly aquired casio sk-1( five bucks
at goodwill:):)

dont do the 16 levels thing thats stupid only use that on occasion...i would just get hook it up to reason...or save up for a real korg or synth ... thatll help u. me personally like the sound of sampling...but I do miss creating everything.

yo never looked at it that way but that's on the money. and irock that is some good advice.

no rush to buy equipment should take it slow and learn how to use each piece properly.

Is there a better way to quickly pitch a sample that i dont know of?

Timestretch, Pitchshift on Cool Edit Pro or on the MPC

for me thats the key-
Not being able to decipher the samples, from the not samples, from the live instrument, from the synth-
just music.

Well.. im a sample based beat maker, but i used to play trumpet and guitar (for decade and a half) as well as spin records and sh!t for close to 10 years (on and off)...

I much prefer workin with samples myself.. i find it alot more creative, single note and instruments u can manipulate however u like... but u can just as much with choppin and flippin samples, and still keep it musical but also keep the feel of true hiphop in it...

The diff bein sample based beats sound much more natural and real, and thats what hiphop is based on, ever since peeps double decked breaks etc before samplers / sequencers existed etc

But yeah anyone can rock synth's and make a beat.. samplings diff, especially to get the true sound of hiphop, that cant come from any amount of technical skills.. only mindstate itself...

As for the emu mo phatt.. id give u a lil advice to stear clear of it coz its real kinda wack, especially compared to other modules out there, just save ur money and get somin better
