connecting rack synth to mpc without keyboard

hey im trying to connect a clavia nord rack synth to my mpc 1000 i have connected them with midi cables but i cannot produce any sounds
is it possibe to make the mpc pads trigger the sounds that should be coming from the synth thanks
any help would be greatly apriceated

Well the pads should be making sounds if you have the midi cables connected right.

-Do you have the volume on the nord turned up?

-Did you select the correct track device that your nord is connected to?

-Did you read both manuals?

mpc midi out -> clavia midi in

not sure if you know this, but you need to plug the clavia output(s) into a mixer or something so you can actually hear the sounds in it
