Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By djrag Wed Apr 11, 2007 8:10 pm
hey everyone...
New to the game, and finally got myself an mpc, saw an xl going fairly cheap on ebay and snapped it up. I know the 1000 or 2500 are much more up to date etc, but i wanted to start with a cheaper model, to see if its for me.

Could anyone in the know tell me what i'll probably need to upgrade on this model, and what accesories/storage etc I could be buying in the meantime?

would greatly appreciate any help.

8 outs is so you can track out multiple tracks onto your computer at one time. (assuming you have a sound card that has 8 inputs) Its one of those luxury and convient things.. from my experince its not the first upgrade i would get for my 2kxl.

just to name a few upgrades to check out ...

MCD - internal card reader (insted of the floppy / zip drives)

Internal memory upgrade (max is 32mb)

Internal FX card ...

this list goes on ...

Alot of people here are very knowledgable and can be a great help.

To add on to what was said above you dont need 8 outs to be able to track you your beats out itll just take longer if you want to do it track by track. Basically you would record each track 1 at a time where as with 8 outs you could record each at the same time.

Also the first upgrade i would get is the card reader. Its the first and only upgrade i got for my 2KXL and its the best one in my opinion.

Good luck man

yeh under 400, but im looking at prices of 8outs and a card reader etc and its gonna cost way more than that in total!
in hindsight reckon i should have bought one with all that done first! oh well u live and learn....

Ill see if this one works well first.... if it does, i guess ill keep it.

djrag - one of my favorate parts about having this 2kxl right now is fixing it up and getting all the upgrades slowly but surely. I look at it like an old car ... you just keep putting time, effort and money into it. Untill you got a hot rod.

After the card reader, I would get the effects card. It helps your sound capability immensely.

man i paid 540 for a dirty ass mpc with sticky stains that i had to clean off carefully cuz of liquids and it came with no power chord or nothing but dude did include an uninstall card reader. I still need to buy the 1/4 jack for my speakers . i had it for two days but its been like so what. but i turn it on and everything seems to work. But have fun man.

I usually get stuff from ebay, but there are other sources.
