what if the OS was made up of diffirent fragments

and each part of the OS was updated separately?

like if there was a bug in trim mode, then all you have to do is install the trim update

and also if you preferred a side scrolling song mode view, you can get that by installing a diffirent song mode file

etc etc

then why not develop a effects "plugins" updater so you could install the effects that suits you! they could even just have a group or people just designing and developing "plugins", that would be cool!

i'm definitely no programmer or software head, but it seems like the 3rd party plugins would bring their own bugs and compatibility issues. then there's questions about the different elements of the os interfacing right with each other.

but mostly, it's just that i'd like to see a stable os, period. if that works, then maybe varying parts. but this would cost jj more time and therefore us more money.

Better FX wouldn't be such a bad idea tho or at least they would be a nice extra. Maybe an ARP type of thing for samples on different pitches.

An ARP is a grate idea maybe it could be added to the note repeat or TC page?

does JJ read the forums or do we need to send him these ideas?

I'm only finishing my first year in CS.
It would be processor intensive and not worth it. You would have to create an OS for the plugins, the mpc just doesn't operate that way. The Windoze, or OSX, or Linux you probably use is processor intensive to make things easier for the layman (thus we have legions now with computers, when I was a child nobody had a computer except for games). It would probably double the price of the mpc. Just get a nice computer and run plugins, if you want plugins.

The akai and jj OS is a bunch of modular components anyway. Look up "object oriented programming" in wikipedia.
