Is it worth it?

So after reading about the probelms with the pads I got one question for yall: Is it worth it to buy a 1000?

yes this machine is a beast in a midget body

hell yeah its a dope machine... convienant with good resale value... always worth a shot.

I wouldn't trade my 1K for any MPC!

Maybe for the 60 or the 3K.

I don't know shit about the difference between the pads on a 1000 and a 2500. It's a machine to help enhance and bring out your creativity. If you already have the creative juices flowing, you will likely make good music on no matter what you use. If you dont know how to play guitar, a million dollar guitar will still sound like shit.

That being said, if I was a 'professional' music maker, I would probably buy the 1000, but for my needs, this machine is the really fun. It's all perspective mate!

2 things:

1. Yeah it's worth it. I bought a new MPC1K last summer, and I haven't had any problems with my pads. Mine was one of the first batches made in Taiwan (I think)...so I'm hoping Akai made the pads a bit more robust when they set up their new production process. Only time will tell.

2. If you're going to lay out all that loot for the MPC1K, and you're a beginner, I highly recommend the ebook. I'm just getting around to going through it now and I wish I had done all of the excercises the first month I had my MPC. I would be at a whole other level now if I had.

in my opinion, the mpc1000 is the greatest hardware sampler ever despite its pad issues due to its size and due to the code written by jj. more and more i find myself selling the rest of my studio and focusing more on the mpc1000, samples, and reason. this, truly, is all i need.

Have you played the MV 8800?

briefly at guitar center. didn't get very deep into it, definitely not enough to make an informed decision as to whether or not it is as good as/better than the 4000

but something that size really rules itself out for me.
