IISDMC for the mpc2000???

Hey guys,
I am using a MPC 2000 with the 8 outs and an external scsi zip drive. I hate it because I can't back up on my PC or MAC.

I saw this card reader and see that everyone is getting into these. Looks like it'll save a lot of time and be easy to organize all my drums. I read that most people are buying these: http://www.amtron.com/reader/iisdmc.htm

And I was about to order because it says its for the MPC2000 as well as for the XL. Everyone I've read has installed in a XL but is it compatible with the 2000 as well? Is it harder to install maybe? I'm using 1.72 OS. Also, the midicase site seems to say that this card reader for the 2000 might be more difficult and expensive to install.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

2k and 2kxl motherboards are different on the inside, that's why you see places saying it's for the 2kxl.

No go on the 2k motherboard. Expensive modification which you might as well just get a 2kxl w/ a card reader.

They do sell external SCSI card readers though. They are expensive and the only place I know of right now selling them is Scsi 4 samplers(add the www/.com to that. Tutor finds him as a competitor so it blocks out his website.)

I searched for external scsi card readers but didn't see much.
I see the Microtech pcd-40 but it doesn't look available anymore.
A external scsi hard drive would be cool but then how would I back up my drums? What if the drive failed one day. With a card reader connected to my mpc 2000 and an external usb card reader for my computers I would be set. Damn it!!!

I just need a way to back up my drums on my pc and/or my mac.
Its scary having all my sounds on zip disks.

I can't even put the sounds in my pc with my scsi zip drive without ruining the zip disk... Do u guys know how to make that work? At least then I could save my sounds on my computer. I saw on midicase.com where he talks about changing the registry so the computer will read your scsi drive the right way but I'm not sure how to do that.
I don't even know where to edit the registry.
Anybody know?

External scsi card reader would be the greatest thing ever!!!

Wow... Looks like 200 bucks plus a couple cards and external usb card reader for my computers.

Sounds like $300!

Hmmmmm.... I'm gonna call a couple spots about external scsi card readers... I'll probably be sad but we shall see.

Thanks for the help, I might have to break down and spend the $300
