Getting samples from Z4 sampler to mpc.

I want to get a rackmount sampler to go along with my MPC. I was wondering If I sample a phrase into the Z4 how would go about loading those into my MPC. I know the Z4 has a internal hard drive. So how would I get my samples from thehard drive to the MPC. Can I use the Akai software to transfer my samples to my PC but then wouldn't I need like a zip drive for my computer? I'm so confused , someone please help!!

Both samplers are connected to computer by usb. Data tranfers to and from computer and both samplers over usb cables. Nothing else is needed.

So you saying that when I sample something into the Z4 I then transfer it to the computer through the USB then drag and drop it into my MPC 1000 drive through usb also. If so thanks!!!!!!!!!

No, my bad. I thought maybe you had MPC4000. Mpc1000 does not support ak.sys.

I hear more bad stuff about the MPC1k everyday...I am glad I didn't sell my 2kxl and cop this...I would be mad....no downsizing for me

You know, it is what it is. If you throw out everthing it does not do, and look at what it does do. It is quite a dope little drum machine, but it is not much more than that.
If you notice, Akai did not stop selling the MPC2000 yet. Every mpc is a great machine in my opinion

I love the design of the original 2k.....but I know that i wouldn't trade my xl for it!

You could buy a card reader for your z4. Save all your samples to compact flaash on z4, then take that cf card to your mpc and load the wave file.

Where can you find this card reader how much does it cost and how do i!hooki it up to the Z4?

So you even own the akai z4?

no not yet I already got a MPC 1000 though. And I need dedicated sampler.

Its all a matter of the situation that you're in. I'm currently stuck trying to decide between the MPC2000XL and the MPC1000, but I also have a beast of a PC to work with the MPC I get. Check out what someone at another forum had to say...

"1000 comes with 16MB RAM and can be expanded to 128, while the 2000XL comes with 2MB and maxes out at 32MB..

1000 comes with 6 analog plus one digital out, while the 2000XL comes with only a single stereo pair. any extra outs must be purchased with expensive expansion boards.

1000 uses SmartMedia cards for storage of up to 2GBs, while the 2000XL uses SCSI (old technology) and expensive and flaky Zip and floppy drives. SCSI stuff is bulky, slow, and hard to find, making it more expensive than ever. Smart Media are just bigger than a postage stamp.

1000 comes with internal FX standard, while the 2000XL comes with none. again, you must purchase another expensive add-on board for FX.

1000 can fit in a backpack and still have room for your laptop, cables, and other stuff. the 2000XL is a cash register sized beat. have fun lugging that around, along with you Zip drive, disks, SCSI cables and CDROM drive.

1000 can read transfer samples and files back forth from your computer with USB. the 2000XL couldn't even dream of that. "
