No wonder u aint gettin ne sound back. You dont record sounds to your MPC that way. The zip drive is used for loading and saving purposes. To use that Sample screen you need to connect a turntable, cd player, ect.. to the RECORD IN on the back of your MCP. That would allow u to record sounds into the XL, name them and then assign them to a pad.

Now in your case if u have 16 bit 44.1khz .wav files then u can load those up in your XL by hitting the SHIFT and its either LOAD or DISK button(i forgot). Once in that screen find your sounds and hit load. It will then give u the option of choosing a pad to assign it to. U press the pad u want to use and its now on that pad. Hit that pad and u should hear your sound u selected.

Make sure u read that manual i provided u in your other thread. I'll drop da link again just in case.

I loaded and the TYPE: ????? (thats what it looked like). The screen just stayed on the arrow and said LOAD. I went into the setup and the primary device is, ATAPI and there isnt an option for floppy but, if it's and internal zip would ATAPI be okay?? and where it said TYPE: i wasnt able to enter anything?? Anybody got advice holla

If you have an internal zip, it shows up as ATAPI. Cool.

You use the load/save for the internal zip.

Sample is when you wanna record something from the line ins on the back of the mpc.

??????? mean that your mpc doesn't know the format of that zip disk, or it doesn't know the file type youa re trying to load.

wav sounds need to be 44khz/16bit or else they won't load, you'll get that ?????.

I suggest downloading the manual and really giving it a closer look.
