no, what i meant was, when you layed down track 3 (the one with pad three on it) did you have 'Loop' on in the main screen? if so, the sequence loops and automatically switches to overdub, so if you carry on hitting pads, you can go over what you've already recorded. just a thought.

i'm pretty sure it's not a bug, as it's not happened to lots of people, but i could be wrong, i'll have a play with a fresh mpc, and see if i can repeat it.

Ok, I went in and turned off the poly. It still does it. I tried a new beat with a kick, hi hat and snare. I made the 1st track the hit hat the 2nd the snare the 3rd the kicks. Went to track 57 recorded then went back and made track 4 the sample. Still did the double notes in step edit.

I went and deleted all the tracks and that sample. I made track 3 my hi hat 2 my snare and 1 my kicks, then did the track 57 then made that track 4. It did the double notes as it did before. Only this time it did it as track 1. (where the kick was).. It is only doubling the kicks and nothing else.

It's a bug for sure.

I do have it set to loop, but it is not doubling the kicks until after I record and lay down that sample.

I checked it before the sample record. It was fine. I'm not hitting any pads after it loops either. And I also have that sample set to play all the way thtough so I just hit the pad and it plays the whole sample.

so it only happens after you've recorded a sample on track 57, then put that on (for example) track 4?

also, are you removing the sample from track57 when you've put it in the program, and playing it from a pad?

Yes it only does it after. It don't do it all the time though. It seems to do it more when it's a low bass and a low kick sound.

Yes I do move it from 57 to the new one like 5 or 6 and have it on a pad..

Yes. I make track 57 blank like it was before I recorded to it.

right, well, i've done exactly that, and no duplicate notes.

i loaded 3 samples, a hi hat, a snare and a kick i put them in program 01 on pads 1,2 & 3 respectively. i recorded the hi hat on track 1, the snare on track 2 and the kick on track 3. then i went to track 57, recorded a sample, then put that in program 01 on pad 4. i turned track 57 to blank, then recorded pad 4 on track 4 (one hit at 001.01.00). no duplicate notes. how weird.

try doing it again, this time more simply, with a kick on the 1st and 3rd beat, a snare on the 2nd and 4th, and hi hats on every 8th note, no more notes than that and turn off loop in the main screen.
make sure you write down exactly what you do, in detail. i mean everything, eg: "i pressed mode+ pad7 to go to program mode" etc. make it so i can follow exactly what you did.

It only happens on some levels of samples being recorded.

This is what I do.

Load a hihat to pad 1 then snare to pad 2 then a kick to pad 3. I record the hihat to track 1 then the snare to track 2 then kick to track 3. Then I go to pad 57 and record the full length of my set (4 bars) I hit rec + play start. I play my midi controller and vst and then it records it. I"m recording with spdif not analog. (44khz). Then after 57 is recorded I go over to the sample with the cursor and scroll the sample out with the wheel. Then I hit shift and f6 to go back to track 4. Then I go into mode + pad7, I go to pad 4 and scroll through my samples with the wheel. Then after my sample is on pad4 I go back to the main screen. I hit rec+start play and when it's counted down I hit the pad4 with the sample. It does it after that.

I noticed it don't do it as much on high pitched kicks and high pitched samples(vst's) it does it mainly with kicks like what's in the programs I uploaded and samples like provided as well.

Make sure you are recording the full length of the set (4bars). And also try to play the keys you are recording all the way through, so when the mpc is done recording it the vst is still submitting sound.

is the midi controller or computer connected to the mpc via midi in any way?

Yes the mpc is connected to the midi controller and the sound card. I have tried it without it being connected also.

The settings on the mpc1000 midi is mode+pad9

Are you doing it with a vst? I use alot of analog vst's like Arturia software.

Are you using spdif also?
