MPC 2000 with Computers???

Hello there...

I have a MPC 2000 with 8 outputs.
I just upgraded to Pro Tools HD2 and use Logic Pro to make beats and now I'm trying to upgrade my MPC:

I got all my drums on zip disks but I want to be able to back them up and organize them easily. I tried plugging my scsi zip drive up to my pc but it damaged the files. Getting them to and from my computers would be the best! I see the card reader is the new craze but the internal ones only work with the 2000xl without crazy modifications. I've seen a couple of external scsi card readers too for about $200 that supposed work with the 2000. That is one option but I'm not sure if I should just upgrade to a 2000XL with a card reader or even a 2500.

1. If I got the external card reader for my 2000, would my pc and/or mac be able to read and save correctly with a seperate USB card reader? Or would I have the same problem with the files being damaged?

2. I have the 8 outs on my 2000. Is it the same 8 outs kit for the 2000xl? I might buy an XL and try to add my 8 outs.

3. What would a 2500 have besides the card reader built in and the 8 outs that a 2000XL wouldn't have.

Sorry for the lengthy questions I'm just excited to finally feel comfortable with my drums backed up!

Pro Tools??? Hell yeah! Its off the hook!
For the actual pro tools HD2 part of it came with 1 96 i/o for $8500.
Then we added another 96 i/o and two 1622s.
We have a lot of outboard gear, hardware syths, and live instruments so we need tons of inputs and outputs.

What do you own a studio?? Sorry I cant answere your question Im just curious man. Can I see some pics?

Firstly, format the disk fat/fat16 and keep to 8 character filenames and you'l have NO problems with that disk going from pc to mpc and back. The reason why your files were jacked up after going into the pc is because of the 8 character limit I believe. Your filenames were truncated, meaning cut short and NOW when you tried to load stuff, your mpc didn't recognize the names. Am I right/wrong?

Yes they are the same board.

A lot more features, you should check the comparison on akai's site for more details. Get up and give them legs some work, do some legwork, lol.

I'll check out the specs for the 2500 for sure. Seems like it has a lot of extra features I might not need since we got a bunch of other outboard gear. I just want the mpc mostly for the drums sounds not the sequencing options and/or effects etc. but I will check it out for sure...
