good luck, it's still not happening to me, but i'll keep trying. keep us posted.

Ok, I think now I found (well not me but lovesign) the problem.

I unhooked everything (midi) and tried one by one. I found that as long as the midi controllers midi out (not usb midi) is running into the mpc1000's midi in it will do it 90% of the time. I unplugged the axioms midi to mpc and it won't do it. Before I just turned the midi off in the mpc, shouldn't that stop it then?

So is this a midi in bug with the os? Or can I not have my controller hooked to my mpc?

I know sparq had his setup where his midi in was the same setup as mine. He isn't using jjos though. So I never would have thought that is what caused it.

Thanks to Mr Modnar and lovesign for the help.

So what should I do now if I want to use the axiom to mpc midi?

do you have the midi out from the mpc going to the axiom? if so, try doing it with that disconnected, and see if it does the same, could be a midi loop that re-records notes on top themselves.

well done, at least you've narrowed it down!

Why do you need the Axiom connected to the MPC MIDI ? Are you using it to control any of the MPC functions or parameters or just using it as a controller for your soft synths ?

Can you list what gear you have in your rig ? Maybe I can come up with an alternative wiring solution.

No. I have the midi out on the mpc going to my ultralites midi in and the 2 midi ins on the mpc is coming from the axiom out and the ultralite out.

and do you have any software running on your pc when the bug appears?

I have a Motu Ultralite and Axiom61 with my MPC1000, my monitors don't matter but they are the BEHRINGER 2031a's.

I guess I will give up why my mpc is connected to the axiom.

What I do is make track 10 a midi track, then record the axioms play with the mpc then I go to track 57 and record what the mpc is telling the axiom to play. Make sense? lol

I thought that doing it that way would be more precise with the mpc telling the axiom when to hit the keys, but maybe it don't.
It does the double note when I do the track 10 as midi or without.

It happens when I use Nuendo with a vst or just a vst standalone. I don't have any other software running while doing my music.

it's possible that there's some kind of midi loop going on in that case. i'm not too fluent with nuendo, so it's probably best for someoe else to guide you to the right setting.

try having the mpc midi out connected to the motu midi in, and then the axiom connected by usb, and via it's midi out to the mpc midi in, and see if it happens, then try with the motu disconnected from the mpc.

I tried it that way while testing it. The only time it does it is when the axiom midi out is going to the mpc midi in.

Would you say it's a bug?

so, in that instance, the motu is completely disconnected?

really not sure how this would happen, but, yes it sounds like some kind of a bug, but we need to determine whether the bug is in the mpc or the axiom.

So if I understand, the Axiom is purely used to play VST's on your computer, right ?

If this is so, you only need connect the MIDI out (USB or 5 pin DIN) of the Axiom to the computer. Connect the MPC to your computer via MIDI. Set your VST's to respond only to MIDI IN messages from your Axiom and disable any MIDI out from them.

I wouldn't recommend using Nuendo with an MPC as they will both fight for MIDI access and will cause all sorts of MIDI related issues. Unless you are experienced in sync'ing multiple sequencers, I'd stick to the MPC for that task. Why do you need to use Nuendo ? If you need a program that hosts multiple VST's, use something like Chainer or Brainspawn Forte. These are purely VST hosts and won't demand control of your MIDI resources. With your setup, I would simply use Nuendo as an Audio recorder.

I am almost 99.999999999999% certain that your problem is MIDI related and that there is no bug with any OS as Modnar, I and others cannot seem to replicate it.

It would be so much easier to be there and check your MIDI routings but unless you're willing to pay for my flights from the UK, we're gonna have to do it via the forum ! ;)

Maybe if you could draw a simple schematic of your gear and how it is connected, and also detail what you use each bit of gear for, maybe we can come up with a definitive routing that will avoid these issues you are having.

I will unhook all again and make sure. :)

Ok, I checked it and it only is caused if the mpc has the axiom connected. The motu doesn't effect it at all.

I also tried to hook the axiom into midi in 2 in the mpc instead of midi in 1 like it normally is. It seemed to not do it then only if the axiom is going into midi in 1 with the mpc.

Yes the axiom is only to play vst's and to have the mpc tell it to play the vst.

I only use neundo to host vst's and to track n sync my mpc to a track (recording).

ah, so the midi out from the mpc is connected to the midi in of the axiom?
