First of all, I love my 2000xl. I can live with the 8/3 file system, the slower processor etc. What I really want is a usb jack and not having to deal with the endless hell of SCSI nightmares.

What will I be losing by going from a 2000XL to a 2500? Are there any featues you think AKAI should have carried over which it did not? I tried one at gutair center the other day, I liked it.

I understand the 2500 is much more out of the box as where the 2000XL is more ala carte. How does the EB16 stack up against the onboard FX. How about the EQing and compression on the 2500?

If I want to make beats like old Pharcyde, De La or Dilla, do I have to keep my older tech?

Thanks!

can't answer most of your questions but I recently bought a 2500 over a 2000xlmcd. I like the CF card. I guess if you should be able to drop in samples from the computer in to the card with a card reader (about $20). It seems that's all the USB lets you do anyway. I was looking at a new 2000xl and a used 2500 and the price was almost the same so I went with the 2500. A used 2000xl mcd got away from me that was priced at $700 which I would have probably bought if they would have lowered the price a little. but, I chose to sleep on it and it was gone the next day. oh well. I'm happy with the 2500. Anyway, I think you can get the computer integration for less than $200, flash drive kit and flash card reader for the computer.

If you dont end up copping on the 25k i would install the card reader on your XL, would make things alot easier. I just put the card reader in my xl and it makes a world of difference...

i also wanna know the comparison on the fx between the 2kxl and the 25k

You will need their brain to make beats like them.

Get a 2500 regardless of what you have. Its a dope machine!!!! Just got one, and I love it!

ALSO, you haven't mentioned the fact that you only have 32 (or 64?) MB of ram, and the 2500 has the 128 expansion. The 128 is incredible to have because you can load almost TOO much... Just so much to work with and with all the great button options (number pad, plus and minus, etc...) it really is an all in one machine. My 2 cizzents

Im trying to make this descision now as well. I have a 2000XL MCD and an MPC1000 , I like the new technology in the MPC1000 (i have jj os) and I love the feel of the MPC2000XL so I am thinking maybe of even scraping both and getting the 2500 but I am not sure I can part with the 1000 or the 2000XL.

My thoughts are to get rid of the 1k for the 2500 but then do I really need the 2000XL.
