Is it possible to use the mpc as a controller? I want to slave the mpc and (MIDI) record drums into cubase using the pads to play a sequence instead of using a MIDI keyboard controller.

(I've used MIDI out to MIDI in in cubase but it's not happening)

Yup, connect the MPC MIDI OUT to the computers MIDI IN, select that MIDI IN port in Cubase and away you go.

What exactly isn't happening ? What are you using for your sound source ?

I'm using the MPC as the sound source so i've got the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT of the mpc going to the MIDI OUT and MIDI IN of the computer but cubase isn't triggering the samples when i hit the pads.

I'm using the same MIDI channel (1)....hmmm, i'll keep trying. Thanks for your time.

What you're trying to do is a bit counter productive. You're trying to sequence a sequencer. You'd be better off creating your beats in the MPC, then if you want to sequence other MIDI instruments, do those in Cubase and sync the MPC and Cubase together.
