80GB hard drive would hold how many songs>

i'm curious about how much data you could hold (ballpark) with an 80GB drive on an MPC1000 .... would it hold atleast several complex and complete songs, with all the effect settings, etc. ?

As you cant have more Ram as 128 mb in the mpc and streaming from hd is impossible it would be at least 80.000 / 128 , that should give you "several"

when i was writing that i was thinking i should have maybe put "mpc songs" instead of "data", but i figured people would get the idea and that no one would waste their time mocking one part of the question...

80 gigs will hold more than you will ever be able to use, believe that homie...

a billion songs.

open up a map with one whole song with al the shits in it.. then divide it through the 80 gb..

for example.. one beat that is saved in lets say the folder BEAT01 holds an capacity of 10 MB...

80000(80gb) : 10 = 8000..

you could hold 8000 of songs in this example..

got it?

you have to think about it like this... 1gb is approximately 1024mb. the average song (complete wav file of a full song) is about 45mb. so if you divide 1024 by 45 then multiply that by 80 you will get your answer on how many songs you can hold on a 80gb hard drive.

80GB would be basically 8000 stereo minutes of audio data. Don't think you'll have to worry about running out of space - thats 5.5 days worth of audio.
