whys it cuttng out....wtf?....

ok....i searched thru posts....read the not so friendly manual....i still cant figure it out....my prob is this....after i chop a sample and lay my chops down on a track....i load up some drums....the problem is....everytime i try and play the drums it cuts out my sample....why does it do this?....can someone please help....i appreciate all attempts.....thanks for your patience......Stic

figured it out....sorry bout the wasted post......but since were here.....can anyone recommend a store to pick up some ram for the 1G?...im not payin that money to akai...its a rip off

read the manual under polyphony. that should steer you in the right direction. if your sample program is set to mono it will cut off when you add other sounds to the seq.

thanks for the reply....big ups on that...sorry bout that q....i just got my 1G yesterday....i use to use the 2G classic.....this is way tighter.....altho i do here what peeps say bout the pads....cuz a couple of mine are almost dead....i take it i cant track to my daw by usb either huh.....

thanks for all the reply....i appreciate it.....and Lamp....the manual sucks ass...everything i look up i use the index.....and the index dont have half the ish im lookin for which makes it difficult to find it in the manual...one thing i notice alot in the forums are people leaving snotty remarks...like read the manual....do a search....were sick of answering the question....well then why waste your time to post on it.....plain and simple....forums are used for this purpose....to ask a question....so if someone dont like it or whatever....dont post on it...just bypass it...im sorry not all of us are MPC gods.....anyways...sorry for ventin...its just how i feel....and i mean no disrespect whatsoever....and again thanks for the replies....those that did help .....that is

nah, the manual has nearly all the information you need clearly stated. it's just that people don't READ it, they just either do as you said, look to the index, or some equivalent - looking for a "point me directly to what i need to know so i don't have to read the entire thing."

if you read the entire manual, you find everything you need. much better than the index.

it's like the search function here - people just don't understand how to get the help that's being offered.

the term for the problem you were encountering is best searched for on the forums as "polyphony mismanagement" and it has either something to do with program monophony, exceeding the polyphony, or misuse of track mutes etc. all is discussed several times, searchable by "polyphony mismanagement."

as for snide remarks, when folks fail to help themselves (not you, by any means) the best advice any of us here could give is to RTFM. at a point, there's no use helping people if they can't be bothered to learn the basics of the machine. it's simply not worth it, as the user is not showing a sign of being a valuable community member who posts interesting and creative ideas.

the forum is no replacement for a manual, and should it ever become such, you will see a mass exodus of users who would rather talk about creative uses of their machine without seeing their post get buried beneath a hundred threads asking about ram, how to layer, how to turn on the mpc, etc.

Ant...i appreciate the reply....but the purpose of an index is to point you toward the spot you were lookin for.....for example.....if im workin on a piece....and i need to figure somethin out....the index would be the fastest way to go about this.....but when you have to sit and fumble thru a manual lookin and lookin....it takes away from the creativness...it slows down workflow and most cases leads to frustration.....in no way am i sayin a forum can replace a manual...because thats not the case....i apologize if i came across abrasive and rude.....and the search engine is not very accurate when lookin for something in particular....most of the time i brings back stuff way irrelevant to what im lookin for....i dunno...please belive its not laziness or what not....its just i look to a forum for a quick answer....to a simple problem....and by the way.....are you the person who makes them replacement pads?.....i do recall peepin a thread about those......and again im sorry if i offended anyone.....thanks

hah! nah it wasn't you by any means, i'm just explaining where a lot of the folks here are coming from. this isn't scolding you or anyone for that matter. you're cool, don't worry about it!

no i agree that stopping to go run to look into the manual is going to be a creativity crusher - in fact, any of that stuff is. that's why one learns the machine - and the manual - verbatim. the less you have to think "now how do i do this" the better - when it becomes second nature, like typing on a keyboard, you do'nt have to worry about creativity or workflow interruptions. it just ....flows! but i agree that the index is frustrating. the main issue is that there doesn't seem to be a "troubleshooting" in the manual which would reaLLY help for stuff like polyphony mismanagement, autoloading information, and other commonly asked questions.

like i said, you're not on anyone's bad side. nobody is, really. 99% of the people here really just want to help.

yeah i make the replacement pads. i'm actually scanning some in right now to show to folks.

here is a good way to circumvent the hardcopy manual... get the PDF version (computer version) that way, you can do a search by word and it will show you where in the manual has that particular word. although i have hardcopy manuals of all my gear, i also have computer versions of the manuals for all my gear.
