I have my Mpc 4000 going midi out to a motif rack. Does anyone know how to assign midi messages to the Q-link knobs/sliders for pitch control and etc?

Thanks

if you had even bothered to read the manual or explore you would of found it....

Hit q-link setup, its in there

I did read the manual

on page 2 it says you can assign internal MPC 4000 Parameters or midi messages to the knos or sliders... the I go to the Q-link section it only explains the internal setup. ohh and thanks for the smart ass remark... anyone can say its in the manual. some people get fustrated with gay manuals. not eveyone is like you and can have 100% comprehension of what they read!

- I explore till the damn mpc freezes.... it just wont work

What you read on page two is correct the q-link as of now does control the internal sampler. There is a send function of Q link in Q link setup menu. Press the send button at the bottom and try to work from there, I really haven`t used it yet so I can`t really say how. It may be included in a future OS update. :D Someone on this site more knowledgable than me will eventually come along and help you so keep trying or call your local Akai representative.

hey all,
in ur motif manual it should have a list of what the contollers are asigned to by defult.? and u should be able to change this manually.
so u can put ur mpc to send controller 7, and in ur motif assign contoller 7 to volume or filter cuttoff Etc.......you see?

controllers range from 127 to 0,

so u go to main page create a track .then assign the midi out to the motifs port and the midi channel to the channel ur using inside the motif.

while still on the chosen track go to the Q-link page then push Send(f2)then slect the Q_link of ur choice,to transmit "CTRL Change" ,then select the control number u assigned to a function in your motif.

so u have got to set the correct controll change message in ur mpc to be sent to ur motif, and asign that ctl message to a parameter inside ur motif.
Ive never used a motif but this should easy to do once u get ur head round it!

also i find it makes life easier to record all controll change and Q-link events to seprate tracks to ur note events...............
you see '' hope this helps .............

hy eflwaves and others!

to find out about q link download the os updates from the akai site! they have been changed quite alot from beginning til now! in the os downloads you can find also the abbendum manuals of the various os's! m not sure but esp. 1.33 or 1.40 had a lot of news regarding q-link! so the explanation from the manual kinda suckks! download the old os's and read what has been changed! its very useful! you'll find also some other useful **** which is not documented in the manual!

I can't copy the few pages here cause i don't have the abbendum manual here but its perfectly described there anyway!

hope that helps! cheers
