It's just an opinion. The MPC 1000 is a piece of garbage. I wouldn't encourage anyone to buy one of those. Still can't understand why any MPC 1000 user on these boards would urge anyone to get one of those knowing what they know.

Some of you have been talking up the MPC 1000 for almost a year now when the JJ OS was released because it now has much of the software functions...and adding that the extra hardware is very little incentive to pick up the MPC 2500 My only response is...you need to actually sit down and use one and then slap yourself for making such a silly comment Especially with all the threads being wrote abot not buying another Akai product again. If I purchased a 1000, I would probably feel the same.

personal attacks are completely invalid when talking about drum machines. as usual, your point/post is completely empty. you offer no reasons, no qualifications, offering only an opinion which you are unwilling (unable?) to back up

frankly, this is it, dude - you go away every month/two saying "oh, it's time to be civil" and like bad weather, something happens in your home life which brings you back to the internet with a foul mood. get a life, or spend a couple more hours at work. or making beats.

This is the 1000th thread on the same topic. Anybody desperate enough to buy a 1000 should just do a search using the word "Antonym" and they will soon discover the reason why they shouldn't buy that cheap drum machine.

Regardless of the personal attack and hard feelings by a particular MPC 1000 user, the 2500 is the better option. Save your money and pick up one...which is what most people in this thread suggested as well (with the exception of one). Rethink your selection of MPCs if it isn't too late. If the 1000 is indeed the MPC you want, if you run into trouble you can always buy the pad modification kit that is being developed and marketed here in the forums by the MPC 1000's #1 champion and #1 detractor.....quite odd...

For the price of a 2500 you can get a 2000xl and an MPC1000!

The MPC 4000 is always a great option...as well as the MPC 2000XL. There are many things you can purchase with the price of an MPC 2500. Owning two MPCs is a waste in your are trying to build yourself a home studio. That money can be used elsewhere. Both Roland, Yamaha, Korg, etc (as wll as a have lost cost keyboards). You can pick up a 2000XL with one of these keyboards for the price on a new MPC 2500.

Well, I can modify that statement to say that people interested in the 1000 are just misinformed or have no idea of what they are getting into. Until Akai immediately addresses the issue with the cheap pads (which they have with the MPC 500), it seems silly for someone to be fully aware of this problem yet still purchase one or convince someone else to buy something that costs hundreds of dollars with such poor quality.

I got my 1k almost a year ago and i am completely happy except for the pads. You might say that the pads are one of the most important things in a drum machine but the point still missing in the thread is that there is already a fix. Nym didnt mention it because he didnt want to advertise himself i think, but now with JJ Os and the pad fix i can recommend the 1k for anyone who is willing to open the box and exchange the pads.

Looking at the specs i feel like the 2500 users might be feeling ripped of cos theres a machine that is capable of the same, is smaller and much cheaper, thats why they are stating its a "real" mpc and the 1k only paperweight.

Nymas you say has been advertising his services for quite a long time now. But don't you think its stupid for anyone to buy a brand new MPC 1000 just to have its pads modified by some kid on the internet...thus voiding the warranty of your new purchase? Again...that is silly
