2000xl to PC or MAC to 2500

(I accidentally posted this in studio environments so don't spaz on me)

I am planning on upgrading from and MPC2000xl to a 2500. Can I back all of my mpc2000xl pgm, seq, and wav files on zips, load them to my pc or mac hard drive, then transfer them to a cf card for reading on the 2500?

Everything is PC formatted, 8 character, though I'm not positive they are all fat 16.

Will MPC editor ensure this is done without corruption?

What is more reliable for backing up, MAC or PC?

And what is the crucial damging thing I need to avoid w/ PC's, ie writing a corrupting on the mpc disk?

Sorry for the long post, but I amtrying to cover every angle since I've lost stuff in the past.

MPC2000/2000XL SEQ, WAV, SND, PGM (Most parameters of PGM file can be loaded.)
MPC4000 SEQ, WAV, PGM (DRUM program only. Only note assign and tune are loaded.)
MPC3000 SND (THRU Computer)
Z4/Z8 WAV only
S5000/6000 WAV only (THRU Computer)
S1000/3000 No compatibility

I appreciate you taking the time to quote the manual to me. My question is not one coming from laziness and/or refusal to read a manual. If you had experience working with the 2500 AND 2000xl you'd know this. And you could just answer my question directly like a grown man, or woman.

I've read the 2000xl manual. I haven't read the 2500 because I haven't bought it yet. But I recently learned that PGM files are only compatible backward from a 2000xl to a 500 and are not fully compatible as that list would have one believe. I am trying to avoid another mistake and thought that was one thing this forum is supposed to help one do.

I am trying to do this right as even Akai's tech support has been wrong before. You also ignore my questions about PC and MAC backup/transfer. I guess you were too giddy at the thought of being able to tell someone to read the manual and enjoy the smalll anonymous power that gives you.

If you have the answers to my questions, great.

If not, move along and get your inner nag fed elsewhere.
