Controlling my mophatt

I have a couple of questions for any of you midi gurus out there. First, when I make a composition using my mpc as the master controlling my emu mophatt module, I usually use a different midi channel for each track and a different preset for each channell on the mophatt. The problem with that is that I then have to write down each parameter for each song and go thruogh and dial it up each time I want to play it. Is there a way to save that info in the MPC itself so that when I open the program file, the midi settings on the mophatt automatically adjust?
The other question I have relates to midi latency. Is there a possiblity that sequencing an external module will result in sloppier timing than using internal sounds on the MPC? Thanks and peace

MIDI sysex dump could be the answer. I would search the forums, becase I remember severa posts about the subject.

I did a search and found out some helpful stuff. However what I need to know is how to do a midi dump for all midi channels at once so I don't need to program control changes, program changes, etc etc. for each channel. Since I'm using 16 tracks with a different midi channel on each track, shouldn't there be an easy way to do this? Confusing I know but someone out there should know the answer.

First check your manuals.
Then check the web for some general info on midi dumps.

As for the midi latency, there is a very, very small, but neglible difference in timing. No one should notice it, including you or I.

You need to save your patches in the user preset section, the save a multisetup. This is how I do it on my proteus 1000.

I don't have the exact answer to your question bit what I do is put the module info in the track bar on the MPC. Example 0072 gtr slide.

You'll still need to manually make adjust the channels on the Mo' Phatt but at least when you save the song(s)/tracks you save all that info as well. That way you don't have to be scrolling thru papers trying to find your info. When you load up the sequences all your info is right there.

What I ended up doing is making the changes on a track like homershines suggested. I found the MSB and LSB #'s on the patch audition screen finally. I still don't see how you send a multisetup from the mophatt to the mpc . In the manual it says there is a sysex function called "all" but my mophatt doesn't have that option.
Do you think someone who has the unit could just give me a little step by step explanation? What I want to do is just get the Mophatt to send the prog changes and all changes for each channell at once to the MPC so I don't have to do each setting by hand. I swear I have looked at the other posts on this subject but I still haven't found the explanation I need.

Find out how to send MIDI DUMPS on the MoPhatt First.....

1. Record all of your drum tracks and midi files (as many as you need)

2. Go into an EMPTY new Sequence, so if you already have ex: 13 sequences, then go to like sequence number 20 (a blank one).

3. Go into the New Sequence and Turn OFF LOOP

4. Go into the sound modules MIDI SYSEX dump section, in the Proteus it will be SEND Multi-Setup DUMP

5. Hit record on the MPC and DUMP EACH Midi Track

Ex: Midi 1 for Midi 1, Midi 2 for Midi 2

For EVERY Midi track in the original sequence you will need to DUMP each track, so if you have 19 Midi tracks then you will need to DUMP 19 MIDI track.


While the MPC is recording, in LOOP off, Hit Dump for Each Midi track from the sound module, you will hear the metronome clicking and it will pause each time a dump has been sent from the module. After you have DUMPED and RECORDED all tracks you will have all the MIDI Data recorded to a separate sequence. REMEMBER: to go to the beginning of the sequence for each dump, starting at 1:00:00. So after you dump each midi track, HIT Play/Start to be at the beginning and dump each track. Once all of the tracks have been Dumped and Recorded you WILL NOT hear anything on this track and the timing etc, doesn't matter for this sequence, as it is only DATA and nothing else. You will need to save ALL of your sequences including the MIDI DUMP as an .ALL file. When you turn off the Module and load the .ALL file in the MPC you will have to go BACK to the DUMP Sequence and play it so that the MPC will recognize the MIDI data. Then go into SONG mode or the original sequence and all of your sounds will be recalled. IMPORTANT NOTE: When playing back the Dump Sequence you will notice, a really cool thing, the MODULE will be changing tracks as the MIDI dump is loading; thus verifying that the DUMP has loaded you will see the last PRESET on your module that you last played as well as the last channel you worked on. Wallah, that's it. Remember to dump/record EACH track...

But you will RUN out of multi-setups eventually.

The way above RECALLS all sounds and settings and is controlled by the MPC.

What about saving your edited patches on the MPC.

No prob lord, I am not sure on that one. I have a P2K and when I save my presets I just put them in an available preset and just scroll back to the ones that I want to use on that MIDI track, after they are saved.

It's pretty easy, trust me it works. You may have to do it a couple of times to get the hang of it. I believe you can send MIDI dumps in the MoPhatt's EDIT menu, near the Multi-Setup setting.

I was messing around and figured out that ALL you need to do is SEND the Midi Data ONE time and record it to a blank sequence, MIDI 01 or whatever and then playback the file and the MODULE will respond to all Midi tracks previously recorded.

Does this include edits on patches? Or is it just for your multi setup?
