completely forgot about this!!
pretty good thread discussing how someone really needs to make their own OS for the 1000. lots of info about decompiling the akai OS, the processor inside and.......how unrealistic it would be to actually have a non-akai OS for the 1000.

3 years later JJ came to the rescue!
amazing...

far out maan!! it is still quite unrealistic. we are very much blessed.consider everyone else having to deal with alesis or moog or other hardwaremakers and their OS situation. the jj os is historically unique (ive heard about other indie os s but not such as this jj os)

Nym & rabuli : Kinda like Yamaha TX16W with the Typhoon 2000 OS by Swedish hackers, right? ;)

very much like the typhoon. that must have been so exciting for those folks as well.

however, i've read up on the typhoon and while it really kicked ass, it doesn't seem to have been quite as tide-turning for the host machine as the jj os. i've wanted a tx16w for a while after hearing about that - i think it'd be cool to make tunes with only machines w/ super-os's.

The 3000 also has a very popular 3rd party os.
